There is plenty to see and do in the Town and Nearby.
Dartmouth is in an area of unspoilt natural beauty, surrounded by tranquil countryside with high rounded hills
and steep sided valleys, lush with vegetation. The nearby spectacular coast line offers superb cliff top walks.
Explore the winding country lanes and visit the many picturesque villages close by.
Situated at the mouth of the River Dart, the towns greatest asset is its deep water harbour. For over
900 years sailors have set out for different parts of the world.
The river provides a fascinating and continually changing panorama of activity with fishing boats,
ferries, yachts, and on occasions, cruise ships. Frigates and submarines often visit the Britannia
Royal Naval College.
Dartmouth is a beautiful, historic small town.
We think the villages and countryside of the South Hams are
the most lovely areas of the country.
There is always a warm welcome for visitors.
Come in the Spring
and see the hedgerows filled with wild flowers and the woods a sea of bluebells.
Early
visitors can enjoy the peace of the area with good walks along the Coast Path and inland villages, or around
the Dart Valley Trail.
Come in the Summer
and have fun on the beaches.
Experience the excitement of the Dartmouth Royal Regatta, the
best in the west, the Red Arrows and firework displays.
Enjoy a trip on the River, visit Dartmouth Castle, or
just watch the world go by from a deck chair on the Embankment.
Come in the Autumn
and see the colours change on the steeply wooded banks of the Dart.
This is a favourite time for
walkers, and those wishing to explore the area and visit some historic towns and houses.
Dartmouth has a wealth of
small interesting shops and galleries making it an ideal starting point for Christmas shopping.
Come in the Winter
there is warm and comfortable accommodation to come back to if you have been out walking or
shopping.
Many visitors come for Christmas, and to enjoy the fun of New Years Eve.
