This page includes tables for Lunar and Solar eclipses from 2009 through 2010. The links that follow may not be many, but these few sites alone will give you more information and images of eclipses than any other sites reviewed by this amatuer astronomer. |
THERE ARE BASICALLY 3 DIFFERENT TYPES OF LUNAR ECLIPSES
(1. PENUMBRAL: The moon passes through the Earth's penumbral shadow. This type is often so subtle that they are difficult to observe.
(2. PARTIAL: Part of the Moon passeses through the Earth's umbral shadow. Easy to observe with the unaided eye. (3. TOTAL: The entire Moon passes through Earth's umbral shadow UMBRA: The very dark inside portion of the Earth's shadow. PENUMBRA: The much lighter outer shadow of the Earth, which covers a much wider area. |

Many of the eclipse related websites out there seem to give a rather flimsy time of the eclipse from your location, this computer will give the exact time of occurance in YOUR location in YOUR local time! INVALUABLE ECLIPSE OBSERVING TOOL! |
