My First Build - Sig Four Star 40
See the final photos!
This is my first kit, a Sig Four Star Four, very often thought to be one of the best "second" planes for those new to the hobby.  This plane has been around for a while.  It is supposedly very easy to control, but still can do all the aerobatics you can throw at it.  Here are some shots of the construction....
Wing Construction
Initial Construction of the right wing - winspars and ribs Applied top sheeting, leading and trailing edges Right wing completed!, about 3-4 hours into the project!
Futher along, different angle
Left wing - added leading and trailing edges, and sheeting to trailing edge
Construction of the left wing - winspars and ribs Left wing -almost complete, need to cut off ends of spars, and sand.  Only about 1.5 hours for the left wing.
Epoxied the two wing halves together through the servo hatch, using the diherdral brace provided by SIG.
Wing clamped and waiting for it to dry overnight
Two halves now fused together via epoxy. Next day, added the control arms for the ailerons, had to notch out the basswood for the threaded arms, very tough to do without breaking it.
Completed Wing- at least at this stage.  Now we move onto the fuselage.
Fuselage Construction
First step was some prep work.  I need to create the block for the landing gear to be attached to.  Also I need to build the firewall, where the engine would be mounted.  This came in two pieces, which I epoixed together, then I  CAREFULLY measured an drilled the holes for my engine mount.   I used thick CA on these blind nuts to hold them in place.  There is a good article on this provided by AMA Sport Avitator.
I then put in each of the bulkheads, rubber banded the fuse together and used medium CA on all the joints and edges.
I built up the two sides of the fuse with the plywood doublers, and taped the end of the fuselage together as instructed.
Here is an aerial view of the fuselage with the cockpit floor installed.
Here is a side view of the fuselage all glued together.
Now I have added the fuselage stringers to the headrest and rear of the fuselage. Next I wet down the fuselage top desk and taped it down.  I used medium CA to glue it from undeneath..
