WCIA, TV channel 3, here in Champaign, ILL. This station had, and has, a weather W that matches their "3" logo, untill the two recent ones, that only match in shape.. The former one was a nice plain w in a box. The new logos today seem to follow a trend of rounded ones. - WCIA took off Romper Room. Today channel 3 is more consistent than the other local channels. They also used to air repeats of MASH right after the late news. It has now been moved to WCFN channel 49, which used to be WCIA's repeater station in Springfeild. WCFN is now a UPN affiliate(2008- now MY Network TV.
WILL TV 12 - Urbana, ILL   Weather "W" history: began to use one in the late 90's.  Some Programs:           The Club- a grasshopper and his friends learn about writing and penmenship(palabera jot!); Fins, Feathers, And Furs; Square One(CTW); The Letter People(KETC); a show where a man has conversations with a computer; a program where a man illistrates pictures from books he reads and narrates; another artist-this one whistels his own theme song; another artist-this one is older and does sketches and cartoons(act); The Magic Library (later renamed Bookmice, and put in a new series off PBS); some show about puppets in a gameshow about saftey; Mister Rogers Neihborhood...
WICD TV CHANNEL 15, here in Champaign, ILL... Weather "W" history:           WICD used to have a "weather w" that was in a circle.      Weather Man, Kieth Page had a weather segiment called Window On The Weather when WICD used to broadcast from Downtown Champaign.       Programs I watched on this channel include: Dennis the Menace (WCCU ran it as well)cartoons by DIC, which aired on weekday afternoons.(is this right?), Durring the late 1980's, NBC was "The Place To Be" (I know that slogen came later)if you wanted to see a Disney Movie on a network, (I think) NewsWatch 15 was at its best from 1985-1988, Cartoons that were American on Saturday morning (any cartoons on saturday at all on NBC!), Matlock...more to come...
WFHL TV CHANNEL 23 in Decatur, ILL...      WFHL, (With Faith Hope and Love) was a Christian TV station located in Decatur Ill. and started out as a (satilite?)/cable channel 6 in the early 1980's. (back when tv was better). WFHL moved to UHF channel 23 in 1984. Remember Paul Osbornes TV News Show? Or Paul Barns Auto Sales? Or Miss Jill? Or Coach Chris? Or Lesley Kent? They had movies, cartoons, chuch shows, and more. Then WFHL TV was sold to PAX net. Then it carried PAX and UPN programming with those affiliations as WPXU.  Today it sadly has fallen victem to the WB as WBUI, WB 23& still with some PAX shows from prime time being aired on week-day mornings. The station still is at the same location to this day. Since the late 1990's, the station also aired some live CBS shows (Sports, etc.) when local CBS affiliate WCIA (Channel 3) (4 on local cable) shows other sports (mabye always ESPN+) at the same time as a CBS show 3 isn't airing.
Also, since becoming a WB, they now omit most CBS ad's.

Well, now it seems that all the CBS stuff is gone... This station still needs to get more weather updates than it has...(WBUI-2008- NOW WAND PROVIDES WEATHER ON WBUI-Now The CW)) Yes...even WFHL tried a weather W...But it was small... A few weeks ago WBUI made a sever weather statement all on the right side of the screen...WBUI now has a black weather w with white border lines!       Programes I watched on this channel: In Focus - A show that was locally produced and hosted by WFHL staff. The show covered local issues, religon, station news, and guests.,
NEWSLINE - This was WFHL's local news show. It ran from 1984-1991. Paul Osborne hosted the news for its whole run. , The Jetsons - Hanna Barbera cartoon. This was a staple on this station too! (a favorite show of mine), more to come

WCCU-27
During the 1980's this FOX affil. would air many new and old syndicated cartoons. Shows like ALL THE EPISODES (if I recall right)) of Scooby Doo(ones made up till then of course)(on weekday afternoons, a then new, 1980's version Woody Woodpecker with old Walter Lantz classics(on weekday mornings), and Duck Tails on Saturday morning(I think). Other shows like The Flintstones were on there until (I think it was 1994) when WFHL picked it up.(I also guess that its syndicater at the time, The Programe Exchange, may have dropped it for some reason.) When WFHL got it, they got the cartoon from Telepictures.

Coming sooner or later...I hope: WEIU, WYZZ, WHOI, WTHI, WTTV channels 4 and 29, WYCC, and more.

Anybody else remember the Indian show BLACK BUFFALOS POW-WOW? I think it was syndicated, and run Saturday mornings on WFHL.
Where can I find that music they played on WILL between shows. Half of it(not all of it?) got used during the 1990's for CLASSROOM-CONNECTION, which was moved to over-night in the 90's.
WKIO moved dial positions a while back now. Bfore that, it was known as K-104, playing AO format radio.

Then, after moving, it became Oldies 92.

A couple of years ago, they made a big deal (buzz) over a surprise change. The change was going from calling themselves Oldies 92, to changing to Oldies 92.5.

This seems to be what stations here do now. WDWS just did a thing like that. They got everybody wondering about big changes. They had just had those, and luckly, there were none.
WIRL was great for network music during the early 1990's. Better than WLBH is most of the time, and easier to pick up than WGFA was. WHOW is now about like WIRL has become, as well as WJCI(WJCI was great when it was WRTL). Most of them are sports stations now. In fact, for a while, WHOW was playing great music after it came back on the air under new ownership.

I'm getting a little disturbed by finding that we now have two Sporting News affills., four FOX sports, and two ESPN's on the radio here now. Or somthing like that. But it could be worse! We lost our best Country station to a rap format. And it used to be Christain. It was WVLJ in the 1980's-early 1990's. Then it was WZZQ.

WITY 980 AM gets what 940 WMIX gets before Rush, and after Dr. Laura.
