I am currently a contract researcher in the Department of Computer Science in the University of Bristol. Previously, I was employed as a researcher at the Coding and Cryptography Group in University College Cork. Before this I was a student at Royal Holloway, University of London, where I was finishing my PhD. thesis on side channel and fault attacks on embedded devices. This work was supervised by Chris Mitchell and instigated by David Naccache. This work was also supported by Konstantinos Markantonakis and Keith Mayes of Royal Holloway's Smart Card Centre.

Between June 1998 and August 2005, I was employed by Gemplus Card International (recently changed to Gemalto after a merger with Axalto). The roles I had within Gemplus's Card Security Group were the following:

Design, implementation and evaluation of embedded software countermeasures.
Security evaluation of cryptographic algorithms against state-of-the-art side channel and fault attacks.
Product evaluation for Mastercard certification of EMV smart cards.
Industrialisation of attack techniques for evaluation purposes e.g. automated attack tools for attempted PIN or key recovery.
Development of command filters on smart cards to facilitate security testing of implemented countermeasures.
Development of attack tools as required e.g. piloting devices or implementing cryptanalytical attacks.

During the same period I attended the Msc. in Secure Electronic Commerce run by the Information Security Group at Royal Holloway, University of London on a part time basis between September 1999 and August 2001.
