June 18, 2004
Sorry for the lack of reports the last few weeks. Been pretty busy with other projects and have not been able to update this page.
As many of you already know the lake has opened back up to walleye fishing on June 1, 2004. Despite the excessive amounts of rain the fishing has been pretty good. Spoons and Crawler Harness trolled on Dipsy's and Jet Divers seem to be producing right now. There were quite a few fishing being caught near the sister islands with a few being caught near Bolles in 18 FOW. Andy and I are hitting the lake on Saturday and Sunday and should have more information for you on Monday.
The first big mayfly hatch for this summer is not too far off. Inshore Areas along Lake St. Clair, Detroit River and Lake Erie have already started seeing the leading edge of the hatch. There have been a few big hatches occuring offshore.
I know most of you enjoy the photos that I post here. With that in mind I am going to include several photos for you. Four (4) of the following photos were taken by Andy while he fished the Gibraltar Rotary Fishing Tournament. Andy and his team placed 10th overall and took first place in the rough fish class with a 6 pound plus Sheephead and took home an Okuma Level Wind Reel with Line Counter.
One picture I took of my girlfriend, Kelly. We spent the weekend together in North Michigan at the beginning of June. During this trip she caught and released this really nice Largemouth Bass in addition to more than 40 Bluegill and 10 more nice Largemouth Bass all of which were released. And you thought I only fish for walleye!
That is all I have for you all right now, please come back for a visit on monday for am updated report.
