Nama Shivaya

Thennadudaiya Sivaney Potri !
Ennattavarkum Iraiva Potri !

Lord Shiva is the first god for hindus, Harappa and Mohanjatharo civilization (before 5000 years) also pray this god Shiva. Nama means Longlive ; Shivam means initiate, reddish, compleate ..,
The religion of Saivam is the ancient and very popular in world. Sivan is the god of Dhyanam, Yoga, Pranayamam, Thavam, Dance, Music, Wisdom and many. The structure of Lingam is called Siva. Shivam has no begin and end, he was Anathi,Agandam(infinite),Anantham(happyness),Apoorvam.

The bigger part of hinduism (nearly 90%) is called Saivam, the saivite divotees worshipped lord Shivan. Dr.Pope Says "Saivism is the old prehistoric religion of south india, essentially existing from pre-aryan times and holds away over the hearts of the tamil people". The worship of siva, as the absolute goes back to the pre-vedic period. During the period of the brahmanas, the siva of the indus valley civilization and the Rudra of the vedic culture merged together representing respectively the love and law aspects of the absolute.(Many aryan evidence shows sivan is the non-aryan god) Generally Shivan is formless and nameless, but later the people worshipped formless form god siva (Lingam, the spherical stone with round basement). After the brahmanas coming, Shivan worshipped in several forms. Shivan is Master of all the gods. He has five heads, Easanam,Thathpurusam,Agoram,Vamadheyam,Sathyojatham(to signify his omnipresence in all 4 directions and one is top of the head). Sivan Five fold cosmic functions is creations, maintenance, destruction, obscutation, and bestowal of grace....More

Here we give a small description about many sivan temples. A lot of spritual and sculpurte wonders are found in south india Especially in tamilnadu. The purpose of this site is to let know the beautiful and spritual hindu shivan temples.
