These are pictures sent to me from my on-line friend, "Greybear". He used to be a Texan - but now lives in Dominican Republic and sends me all these neat pictures! I wish I could lie and say that I took them all! Maybe someday!!! But they are all so neat! He writes some great narratives, but won't let me put them on here - because "the names have been changed to protect the living and the dead" - but the living are still around, and he doesn't want to wake up with a knife in his back!! Click on the pictures to make them larger. This is one of the beaches in Luperon. This, he says, is the main beach. This is a local woman with 2 of her 7 children - expecting #8! The one on the right is one of the villages. This one, he calls Dominican Ambiance! I love it!!!
The one to the right is a wracked 40' ketch! Evidently - according to the story I was told - the owners were on shore, partying. A storm came up, the boat lost it's anchor - and ended up in the mangroves! A big hole in the side!! Since most of us boaties have lots of courage, but little money, they were unable to haul it out and fix it! It was confiscated by the Federales, and is now for sale!! What a project, huh?
