Merilyn was born in Sydney
and grew up in the rural West. She got her first guitar at 12 and wrote
her first song at 14. Her passion for music snowballed from there. Her
love for country grew from hearing songs on the radio by artists such as
Linda Ronstadt, Olivia Newton-John and others.
Merilyn is a regular guest artist at the Tamworth Country Music Festival taking centre stage at several major shopping centres (including Tamworth Arcade) as well as local clubs and hotels. She has had many years experience as a vocalist, both lead and harmony, and boasts a two and a half octave vocal range! She is also a guitar player working successfully with her own duo for many years.
Merilyn has had music performance training with some of the best in the industry including Marty Rhone, Ted Egan, Alan Caswell and Glenn A.Baker. She has also completed a Music Business Management Certificate in 2002 at Sydney TAFE. With a solid background in music theory, and several years of performance experience, Merilyn has a passion for music and a craving to perform. Particularly, she loves the feedback and buzz of a live audience.She has shared the stage and supported entertainment greats like Lucky Grilles, Chad Morgan and Normie Rowe to name a few, and has also worked back to back with Beccy Cole. Merilyn has worked at some of Sydney's most prestigious venues including Blacktown Workers, Rooty Hill RSL, South Sydney Juniors, Canterbury Hurlstone-Park RSL etc. She is also equally at home at several regular hotel venues.
Her musical influences these days include Kasey Chambers, Beccy Cole, LeeAnn Rimes, Mary Chapin-Carpenter and Shania Twain. Merilyn is now working on creating exposure for her songs both locally and internationally and is seeking publishing and management in order to tour, fine tune her craft and live her dream of becoming a professional country music artist.
