June Lakewood is a third generation New Zealander of Chinese desendence. She has some knowledge of her heritage, but doesn't know the language, and has no interest in learning.

Born in Christchurch, New Zealand to James and Lin Lakewood in 2130. June is a single child, and as such was some what spoiled in her childhood. Attended school her whole life in New Zealand. While in secondary school, June picked up the sport of fencing, not at all interested in playing the 'accepted' girls sport of netball, or playing in the any of the other sports offered. While only competing at secondary school level, June managed to work her way up to the top of New Zealand national fencing.

Specializing in sensor technology and faster then light detection systems while at university, June pulled a B+ average the whole time. To help with her own financing of university, June entered the Starfleet enlisted program 6 year plan. This paid for her 4 years at university as long as she need training and work with them during term breaks and summer holidays, and signed her up for a minimum 2 years service after completing her degree.

Her decision to enter into Starfleet angered her parents, both of them having planned for her to attended university and enter into the family law firm afterwards. June has no doubts she would have been disinherited if it wasn't for the fact she's an only child.

Upon completeing univeristy though, her parents had changed their views and wished her the best into Starfleet and the great unknown.

June then finished her training with Starfleet before posted the NX-06 Meridian, where she is currently stationed.
