Pendlebury

From P Pendlebury on Sat, 26 Jun 2004 and my letter bounced 9 Dec 2004, has returned on 27 Apr 2008

Hi Elizabeth,
l have collected a significant amount of information re the family of John Pendlebury married to Mary McMann. l think that you are actually missing a son, John. l have a copy of an inquest for a child who died in 1871, he was scalded from a billy of water, his mother, Mary Pendlebury, with references to a property called "Norwood". Henry Pendelbury
l have looked into this and there was such a property, Ref:Place Names of Victoria, by Les Blake.- Norwood:John Morris Fisher leased this Run by Bet Bet Creek [Near Timor] 1846, named after Thomas Marshall's Title.- Timor is North west of Maryborough, Victoria.
The Maryborough and District Hospital Records , index to admissions, 1855-1907, Pendlebery, John-date of admission, 23/05/1894, aged 72 years, Miner, Maryborough. Port of embarkation-Liverpool:Ship-The Eagle; 60 years in the colonies [therefore arrived c.1834], Married, C.of E; Native of Manchester.
ALSO-
Pendlebury- Mary, date of admission 28/02/1876; 14 years old, [c.1862 birth], Occupation-Alma,C.of E; Native of Norwood.
l would presume this is daughter Mary.
l still have a vast collection of info re Henry W. Pendlebury, the son of John and Mary. I can type up the info on Notepad, or mail it to you, as I am still trying to connect this family, have you had any more feedback re any of them?

Added 27 Apr 08 - So attached is a photo of Henry William Pendlebury, son of John and Mary, who was a soldier in the Boer War. I have also just noticed that this may be the same person who ends up being a policeman in Queensland. There are pension records etc noted for him. I have not yet located his marriage in Western Australia to "pretty miss [Chalmers/Chambers]", as per newspaper article l have. There are quite the few articles but they save very poorly. They refer to the Western District and Catholic College that he attended as a lad. As his father, John, was Church of England then I guess his Mother had something to say about schooling as one would presume her to be Catholic re her maiden name.
