Are St Mary and St George churches and if so what denomination?
Yes, they are churches (Established or Church of England), but they are also districts, from 1837 particularly civil registration sub-districts of Southwark and Newington. They don't necessarily coincide exactly with the church parishes of the same name.

Thank you for the information..and yes I have since received the marriage certificate of John RODWELL to Sarah HEALEY m 1885.
This is also my John Rodwell b 1823 Stepney London who previously was married to Clarissa Wrangham, he was widowed the same year he married 1885. He died 19 Dec 1919 Box Hill age 95.
(John RODWALL died 1919 #16062 aged 96, at Box Hill, unknown parents). He is buried in Box Hill Cemetery.
Please let me know what information I can relay to you as there is quite a bit.

William John Bishop was born in Adelaide 3.4.1857 and died 27.8.1923 in East Melbourne and is buried at Brighton Cemetery
his parents also a William John Bishop and Sarah Trott.
I obtained the birth certificate for the first Bishop child Frederick and it says he was born 11 April 1853 on the immigrant ship Eliza in Portland Bay, so you were spot on, and that they were married 13 July 1852 and both born in Bristol
What became of William No 1 is a mystery he just seems to have disappeared after the birth of their last child in 1871 I have tried a couple of likely suspects but to no avail as there was no info on the certs.
Sarah on the other hand lived to be 91 dying on 29.3.1918 and was buried at Brighton Cemetery her death cert says her father was John a cabinet maker and mother Sarah unk.
William John Bishop married Maude Alice Rodwell 20.6.1881 at Moor Street Fitzroy - witnesses John Rodwell and Helen Eliza Read the brides sister and Father . William was a house painter and decorator
Maude was born 4.12.1858 in St Kilda and died 15.7.1937 age 78 at Yarra Junction while living with son Fred and she is buried at Brighton with husband William , son Fred who died 1950 and daughter Myrtle who died 1971 also in the grave is the urn containing Harold Cooper Myrtles husband who died 1975.
Myrtle Maude Bishop was born 14.8.1897 at 22 Chapel Street Prahran married Harold Victor Cooper 11.8.1920 at Holy Trinity Balaclava.
Found by using details in the letter.
