Heitmann

The family now uses the shorter 'Heitman', which also occurs in the Victorian indexes.

Herman Heitmann 1842 - 1902, born in Hanover Germany, son of John Heitmann and Margeurita Otter, died at Eaglehawk aged 59 years 9 months.
John Herman Heitman 1847 - 1905, son of Johann (John) Heitmann and Margeurita Otter, died at Mt Korong aged 58.
Hermann came to Victoria with his brother Johann (John) and arrived on the Sussex October 23, 1863, mother's name is really 'Margaretha Otten' - see the letter in the orange frame, ending this section.
Herman Heitman wed 28 March 1870 to Catherine Roberts, born in Adelaide 1854 to Ann Mollony (or Mallow, family say Molloy) and Thomas Roberts, died 1894 aged 40. They lived at huntley, Nerring, Eaglehawk

I now have obtained Emily Jane Grey's and John Herman Heitmans Birth Certificates thanks to your help.
Please note Emily Jane Heitman (nee Grey) and John Herman Heitman had the following 6 children all daughters
1. Dagmar Vida Heitman (Married to Thomas ODea 1923) not sure where born (not WA) possibly Victoria . Died in 1979
2. Norma Heitman DOB 17.11.1899 alive in 1960s

I would like to add a little to your description on the web site of the HEITMANN's ... note it was spelled with 2 n's..... in future generations one of the 'n's was dropped.
And in response to your request, Hermann came to Victoria with his brother Johann (John) and arrived on the Sussex October 23, 1863. Hermann actually died in 1902 in his 59th year....NOT 69. His parents were Johann (John) and Margaretha Otten (note correction). CATHERINE ROBERTS was born in 1853... to Ann Molloy (note correction)

10 children --- 1st born was Thomas Frederick --- the two you have not included are Elizabeth Metta Heitmann, b. 1874 and Elsie Teresa Heitmann b. 1891.

I dont know whether you wish to have this info or not... but thought I would pass it to you..... If you have a picture of Dom Bravo... or any other material on the Heitmann's would you please let me know. I wish somewhere I could obtain a picture of Hermann or Catherine.... any ideas I might pursue?
