I note that you have done some research on John Henry Arnaud. I am also researching this line in the family.
John Henry Arnaud was born in about 1828. He married Martha in 1851 in East London (have marriage certificate) and they had two children in London and a further 6 children in Melbourne which you mentioned.
The first two children are: John Henry Arnaud, known as Harry (born 1852) and Martha Ann (born 1854). I have more information on their first child, Harry if you are interested. I also have more information on John Henry snr parentage.

Thanks for your prompt reply! You have taken on a big task, but it does sound interesting. Howard and I are both descended from early pioneers, but I don't think my ancestors are listed on your site. Howard's first Purcell ancestors arrived in 1840, I think from memory, and William Axtill came across from VDL in the late 1840s.

I do have quite a bit of information about these families, and I'd be glad if you could pass on our details to the other Axtill researcher who has contacted you. I assume this is a descendant of William Axtill jr, who married Alice Blencowe, and would have been Howard's great uncle. I think that branch of the family moved to the Riverina area, and as far as we know lost touch with the Melbourne Axtills. In fact the name has probably died out here, since Howard's grandfather, Robert Axtill, only had daughters.
