It's a Matter of Character

The problem of sexual addiction is a problem of character.
I'm Bill McCartney... It's 4TH and Goal!
Steve Gallagher is the President of Pure Life Ministries and a minister
who's worked with sexual addicts for the past fifteen years. His
experiences have led him to believe that a man's thoughts and behaviors
are by-products of his character.
Concert pianist, Lance Baker, was respected and esteemed by colleagues
and audiences alike. In 1985, after performing for President Reagan,
Lance was on top-of-the-world. He'd achieved everything he ever wanted
in life.
But, beneath his polished exterior, hidden from the eyes of admirers,
Lance was miserably bound up in sexual perversion, and spent most of his
free-time cruising adult bookstores, parks and public restrooms, in search
of fulfillment in sexual experiences.
Take away a rich man's wealth, a celebrity's fame, an influential man's
position, and all that's left is his character. When Lance's thriving
career was eventually swallowed up by an insatiable lust for sex, all he
had left was his character. So, he landed at Pure Life Ministries,
a broken man, desperate for change. And, in the end, things turned
around for him.
Guys, it could be that our lives haven't unraveled quite as dramatically
as Lance's did, but we've all had our failures. And, maybe our greatest
enemy is not our failures, but being satisfied with our present condition.
May is Victims of Pornography month. And, if the truth were to
be told, I am sure most of us would have a story to tell about how our
lives have been impacted by pornographic images at one time or another.
