My Japanese Wood Block Print

In art class we made Japanese wood block prints. We took a famous american painting, and turned it Japanese. First we made a collage with other pictures on top of our choice of a painting. Then we traced the picture on to a piece of wood using tracing paper. We used U-shape and V-shape tools to cut the wood to make the wood in to a stamp like thing. We put ink on the block, then put the block upside down on a piece of printing paper. We then used a banana leaf iron to transfer the ink from the block to the paper. The paper dried. We cut frames from black paper and framed our two best pictures. ta-dah
