Foes & Faux Weddings

Willow curled next to Graham as the movie finished. "Cinderella. Why Cinderella?"

He shrugged slightly, reaching for the remote. "Sleeping Beauty was sold out, and Alfred said we all had to watch one movie with a classic fairy tale story." He started to hum a song, and Willow chuckled.

"Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo? You got way into the movie, Graham."

He shrugged once more, smiling. It had been three weeks since the play started, and they were all gathered in Riley's dorm room, watching movies. Buffy and Riley were on his bed, both of them asleep. Forrest and Spike had gotten into the mood for a workout and had left. Xander had to go to work, so Anya had left with him.

Graham turned and glanced at the sleeping couple. "Wonder what they're dreaming about."

"Do you really want to know?" Willow asked.

"Why not?" She closed her eyes, muttered a tiny spell, then said "Mumbo-jumbo."

"Mumbo-jumbo?" Graham asked, cocking an eyebrow. She elbowed him in the shoulder lightly.

"Put in Pinocchio. We need a sweet simple song to fall asleep to."

Graham didn't argue. He was already feeling strangely tired, and just put the video in. Suddenly, a song was heard, not from the TV, but as if it were being sung to them.

"When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you

If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do

Fate is kind
She brings to those to love
The sweet fulfillment of
Their sweet longing

Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true."

"Dreams...come...true..." Willow muttered quietly before she fell asleep.

*~*~*~*~*

"And where are you going?"

Willow jumped slightly, trying to figure out who's dream they were watching. She looked around, seeing only Graham and a stuffed Cheshire Cat.

"Who said that?"

"Me." The cat grinned, it's eyes suddenly fading away.

"This is weird," Graham said, shaking his head. A phone started to ring. And ring. And ring. And ring...

"Isn't someone going to answer that?" Willow asked. Suddenly the Cheshire Cat, in all it's animated glory, stood on thin air in front of her.

"No. In which direction are you going?"

"To the phone so I can answer it," Willow said.

The Cat shook his head, and only his head, since his body had disappeared. "She has to answer it, and she doesn't want to."

"Who doesn't want to?" Graham asked before a purple and pink finger pointed to a sad and terrified Buffy.

"Does this always happen in her dreams?"

"No, Willow. Just her nightmares," the Cheshire Cat said, turning into a different man. "I am Frederico Bloggadonovich, your guide through your friend's dreams."

The man was tall, with light brown hair and striking violet eyes, and odd combination. He wore a simple gray suit with a brilliant blue shirt and gray tie. "I'm also known as The Sandman."

Willow shook her head. "We just wanted to watch."

Frederico smiled slightly. "You're going to have to help me tonight in exchange for watching, Willow. They are both having nightmares, and you must help soothe them."

Graham nodded slowly, trying to take it all in. "So...we're in Buffy's dream now?"

"Yes. She's dreaming that Angelus has returned and has killed off more of her friends. She won't answer the phone for fear it's news of a death. But it's just the hospital, asking if she will come to visit her fellow Slayer, Faith. She must answer the phone."

Willow looked around the now developing room, noting that it was Joyce's kitchen. She saw a box of Cheerios on the table, all set for breakfast. A dandelion was sitting in a small vase on the table, the only bright spot in the room.

She carefully walked over to her friend, shocked at the drastic change of appearance. Her hair was unwashed, her face pale. Dark circle ran under her eyes, and it looked as though she hadn't eaten in days. Her cheekbones jutted out much like Spike's only in a more sickly way.

Willow almost started to sob as she realized Buffy was living her worst fear over and over. And it was destroying her.

"Maybe if he goes away, I can fight vampires like Louis," Buffy muttered, finally noticing Willow's presence.

"If who goes away?"

"He does," she said, pointing out the door, where there was a light snow falling. The phone kept ringing shrilly in the background. There was a shadow and the flash of Angelus' face before she could see the snow falling again.

The snow melted the minute it hit the ground.

Willow shook her head, digging in her pockets. She'd fallen asleep with a stuffed koala, a present Graham had given her that night. She tentatively offered it to Buffy, much in the way a small child gets offered something of comfort when he or she gets scared. "Can you answer the phone?"

Buffy shook her head, sinking back against the wall as much as she could. "No...they're dead. He's killed them all. He's not like Louie."

It took Willow a moment before she realized Buffy was talking about the character in the Anne Rice novels. She thought for a moment before saying, "What if it's Louie on the phone, saying he can get rid of him?"

"Do you think he can? Buffy asked, looking up. Her voice was small and meek.

Willow nodded. "Yes, but you have to answer the phone first."

Buffy stood up, trembling like a leaf as she headed over to the phone, and gingerly picking it up. "He--Hello?"

As she heard the voice on the other line, her hair became cleaner, her face regained color, the circles disappeared, and her voice regained it's usual vibrancy and luster.

"Well done," Frederico said, nodding to Willow. He then turned to Graham. "Your turn."

*~*~*~*~*

The scenery changed and then they were in a church. There was a wedding going on, and Willow gaped at the couple.

"I'm just a Slayer...standing in front of a vampire...asking him to love her," Buffy was saying, staring up at Spike with adoration in her eyes.

Graham's attention, however, was turned to Riley. He was in the back corner, trying his hardest to be able to say that he didn't want this wedding to happen, but unable to say *anything.*

He moved over to Riley as Spike held up a Hawaiian shirt. "In order to prove my love, Slayer, I will burn this bloody shirt."

He carefully set the shirt on the floor, stepping away, and threw a match on it. Xander was standing nearby in a tux, fire extinguisher ready.

The shirt lit in a brilliant blaze, and Riley started to move towards the couple, pulling out a stun gun from his pocket.

Graham grabbed his arm, effectively holding onto it as he struggled. "No, Riley. I'll help stop this for you, but if you use that, Buffy might hurt *you*."

Riley sighed, defeated, then perked up as the minister said, "If there be anyone here who has reason these two should not be wed, let them speak now or forever hold their peace."

Riley elbowed Graham, who in turn said, "Uh...we do."

Everyone turned to look at them, the bride and groom wearing matching glares.

"Why, young sir?" the minister asked.

"Because...they can't get married until Spike tells her about his Star War figure?" Graham said weakly as Riley rolled his eyes.

"*You* have a Star Wars *action* figure?" Buffy asked incredulously, backing away from the smoldering Hawaiian shirt and her intended.

"Yeah, I do. So?"

"That's just...just...wrong!"

"It's Queen Amidala," Spike said in his defense.

"That's even worse!" she said, heading down the aisle and out the door. She pointed at Riley. "You...move. Do you have any Star Wars figures?"

Riley shook his head. "None." He smiled slightly as he had finally found his voice again.

"Well...Xander has his uncle's car. We were going to use it to go on our honeymoon. Want a ride somewhere?" Buffy asked with a smile.

"Does Spike *really* have a Star Wars action figure?" Willow asked Frederico, who shrugged.

"Where did that come from, young man?" Frederico asked Graham.

"I don't know." Graham looked around, realizing everyone and everything around them had disappeared. "Where are we now?"

"In your dreams. You're sharing them right now. Make your own dream," Frederico said, bowing to them slightly. "Now if you don't mind, I must pay a visit to that vengeance demon. Her dreams deserve a XXX rating...I'm so very glad you decided not to see her dreams."

Graham started to laugh, then looked at Willow. "So...what do you want to do?"

*~*~*~*~*

Buffy and Riley woke up, the end of Pinocchio disturbing their dreams. "I just had the strangest dream," Buffy said, shaking her head.

"You too?" Riley said, sitting up.

"Yeah...I wonder what they're dreaming about," she muttered, looking at Willow and Graham.

"I don't," Riley said as Willow muttered the words "other uses for beds."
