The world wide! Body Odor Network
Body odor - Bearing in Asian race
Studies for final means, the treatment , by the body odor specialist
have been popularized up to the present. Of course, the body odor
specialist might understand the mental pain in body odor patients. There
are some questions in it.
It is always written, in the guidebook on body odor clinic and the book
on the skin disease, that body odor is found in 10 % of Japanese and 90 %
of European and Americans. The above mentioned , if taken up largely, may
arise one international problem. But this is written without reserve,
since it is essentially read by the small number of body odor persons.
The book on body odor wrote not only the above but also the
advertisement saying that those who suffered from body odor had better
visit our clinic. Of course, it does not mean in the present Japanese
situation that since most of Europeans and Americans suffer from body
odor, you, Japanese, need not worry about body odor but you had better
visit our clinic if you want to be treated.
While most of Europeans and Americans suffer from body odor, why should
Japanese be operated on?
Regrettably, doctors do not consider the culture.
When I talked of body odor, I was often told not to worry about this
slight symptom compared with others. Then why should body odor be
compared with other symptoms? The above statement may be true of
Europeans and Americans. In Japan where the number of body odor patients
is small, the above statement by Japanese who are not familiar with the
word "body odor " is not convincing.
When I talk of body odor, Japanese in general consider it with the
smell as theme. However, the body smell is the result and body odor
patients have a definite symptom with perspiration action different from
other persons. I want you to think about this symptom.
I am confident only of the fact that body odor is one formal symptom in
human. I am neither going to popularize my own story nor going to convey
my thought widely. I am conveying the fact which is definitely present in
the world.
I may be the first person to make body odor known from the view of
patients. Up to the present, body odor persons can not do anything.
However I emphasized body odor from the patients' side at present since
Japan could refer to the Western culture simultaneously with the defeat
under the Western Powers in the World War II, and could obtain the tool,
the personal computer. This emphasis is the one great change in the
history of an Asian race over several thousand years.
Body odor will also be present in the future. I may not be powerful
enough but, such a person like me, may appear in any time. In future, he
will influence Japan with the development of various communications. When
you are older, the person who will thrust you may appear among your
children. Of course, at that time, I, the elderly person will educate your
children.
I hope that body odor from which persons suffer is open to gathered
members and the name "body odor" and its exact condition are known
throughout Japan. Pains in other symptoms may not be understood before
the onset. However, share of knowledge by many people is enviable.
I want to form the group to consider body odor. If we are not worried
about body odor, we may gather to talk about it.
If there are not many European and American patients with body odor,
that is all right as well. There must be at least one patient with body
odor in Europe and America, since body odor is a human symptom. If such
a person is present, he may be suffering in the minority as in Japan. I
will tell a story, taking an example for such a person. What he wants to
do the most is to make the group that considers body odor at first hand.
Can you state the opinion not from your guess but from the experience
spent with true body odor patients? How about the environment when you
worked and learned at school together with patients?
In junior high school and senior high school years, any student in any
first class school and any diligent student see the body odor persons of
the same age from peculiar sensitive adolescent view. It is impossible to
ask not to see body odor with prejudice.
The history of body odor treatment is superficial in Japan. For
instance, most of the spray type deodorants in sale limited in summer
target the young women. However, middle aged men, sometimes elderly
persons give out offensive smell with a little sweat. Can you imagine
elderly persons applying " 8 & 4"or "ban 16"? Compared with these
products, European and American deodorants are not limited to young
persons and everyone makes use of these deodorants which are not sold
solely in summer.
When body odor section of the book on skin disease is looked upon, it
is written as an advice that it is necessary to make the environment
producing little sweat and make effort to place oneself in such an
environment. How much are these efforts made in the current state? For
example, should physical work be avoided? Or may unintelligible person
doing the physical work give out offensive smell?
What will you feel, if body odor persons are found among such workers
working all day long in the hot place, as cooks in high class restaurant
and lady on the lunch counter in the street corner? It is hard for anyone
to work in the hot place. It is even harder for body odor persons.
Let's take an example from our daily life. For example, if your wife is
later conscious of her body odor and cooks in the kitchen, how will things
go? The person in question will become nervous and the family may be
unpleasant (even if this situation is understood) about the every day
offensive smell.
The person who should spend a certain time in a kind of uniform and
working wear is serious. It is often written in this type of book that
body odor persons keep themselves neat and tidy by changing clothes
frequently and wiping armpit several times a day. But how much do persons
particularly in uniform actually can do such things as to keep themselves
neat and tidy in such Japanese working conditions?
When I was operated on for body odor ten and several years ago, I met a
middle aged man in the same sickroom. He said he wanted to be a policeman
in old times but Japanese police refused the appointment for body odor. I
don't know the situation at present. But the past is the true past.
Isn't this past horrible? In Japan, people have prejudice against not
only the unpleasant smell but also one's physical constitution .
Not any one can experience being the body odor. When someone say "I
caught cold" or " I had a toothache", you can understand his pain from
your own experience. In addition, the pain may be understood by many
people , due to more information than that on body odor, even in the
specific symptoms which can not be experienced.
When you find body odor person around you, discuss about the body odor
with that person. If he/she has different opinion from me, please
introduce him to me. I may correct my opinion on talking with him.
However the first problem is whether all of you can talk with body odor
persons and whether such an environment is prepared in Japan.
