And here's Gypsy herself!  Looking very puppyish as if she hasn't done anything wrong.  Yeah!  Right?  Gypsy was born on 7-11-00.  Doesn't she have a lot of spots?
The very first time I held the little spotted one in my arms!  She's always been a little cutie patootie!  Among other things of course!
To the left - Gypsy is trying to drain a can of squirt cheese while on the beach.

To the right - How Gypsy and Camper (her house brother, my boyfriend's dog)  got to that beach.
Why yes that is actually Gypsy getting ready to 'flop' off the back of the boat.  She did in fact do the great 'flop' just after this picture was taken.  She's not exactly a graceful diver yet but she's working on it!  If we all swim a little too far away she lets out these awful moanful howly sounds asking not to be left behind and then does the 'flop' and swims to us.  She has a flotation vest for when I think the distance is more than a few feet or she's tired or the water is rougher.  It is purple with yellow bones on it of course!

Gypsy         July 11, 2000 - August 15, 2008

Gypsy died recently.  This is what I wrote family and friends.

It is with a sad and broken heart that I tell you that my Princess, Gypsy, the outspoken, neurotic, sometimes vegan, always had a different relationship on the planet with everyone on the planet, loved everyone equally, my rock of Gibraltar, my stalwart companion, my trusted and tried and true friend has passed on to the bridge today. Her nine lives (if she were a cat and maybe she was partly?) were used up, her battle with mass cell tumors conquered until the end, with one small diagnosed one recently aspirated on her side.  Her final loss however was due to renal failure brought on by ecoli poisoning a year and a half ago. That cause?  Who knows? It was from squirrel, feral cat or some kind of infected bird droppings in the front (doggy) yard. No other dog here was infected or affected by it but we have battled to keep her alive and thriving since. They said she would never live a year, she had only 20% of her renal function. Gypsy lived a great life the past 18 months! She wasn't in pain and was for the most part comfortable (she didn't care for certain meds) and just her happy go lucky neurotic self until recently.  Two weeks ago I took her into her vet's office and Dr. McCafferty (the saint) aspirated a new lump (cancerous) and rechecked her kidney values.  The most distressing news wasn't about the lump but that her kidneys had signalled that they had begun to totally shut down and her happy days were in short supply.

Gypsy lived life to the fullest and was quite content to 'tell off' her big brother, Samson, the Akita, and by some miracle from the day he met her she COULD do anything she wanted to him and he let it slide. He really was the alpha but Gypsy could get away with murder under him. He always knew she was special! The danged retired therapy dog always knew, and he allowed her to do and be whatever she wanted. And she was something different for every single relationship she had. She was adored by many. Even her babysitter when I traveled, her whole family just adored her, each in a much different way. Everyone she touched and whose lives she passed through she left a mark. She was a remarkable little girl.

Gypsy passed to the bridge this morning while heald lovingly in my arms. I will always miss her, yet she will always be with me forever.

Godspeed to my beloved girlfriend.  Mommy does, and will always, love you and be with you forever.  Be at peace.

Best wished to all,

Myra
