THE WEB PAGE OF MARGARET COVI
My main interest is bushwalking and I belong to the Watagan Wanderers bushwalking club, whose activities cover walking, from very easy to hard walks, and bushsports such as abseiling, canoeing, canyoning and caving as well as camping and social activities. Unfortunately this year we don’t have insurance cover for abseiling, climbing, caving & skiing, so our activities are curtailed. We are based in the Newcastle and Hunter Valley area in N.S.W., Australia. The Watagans are one of our favourite places, but we walk in many areas. The Watagans is not very well known as a walking area, though part of it has now been declared a National Park. It has many beautiful rainforested creeks, which make good walking. The Central Coast and Hawkesbury area also gives us some good trips, as does Barrington Tops to the north. We do trips much further afield, such as Hinchinbrook Island, Wilsons Promontory, the Overland Track, the Grampians, some New Zealand tracks, the Blue Mountains, Wollemi National Park and so on. We also completed the Australian Alps Walking Trail in sections. Last October we walked the 9 day Mittagong to Katoomba classic. Also I like to fit in some canoeing and we've done some recent trips on the Hawkesbury River and its tributary creeks & have been circumnavigating Lake Macquarie. Winter is time to go down to the Snowy area for some cross-country skiing, but I need lots more practice at this, before embarking on any ambitious trips. I like caving too, but don't seem to have much time left for it. Altogether, there's so much I want to do, I don't know how I'll ever fit it all in!
