About Our Club

2000-2001 MCHS LEO CLUB

We are made up of over 150 dedicated Leo members in the community of Rancho Peñasquitos located in north county San Diego, CA, USA. Started in early 2000, this club has quickly sprouted to be one of the most successful clubs on Mt Carmel's campus, one of three high schools in the critically acclaimed Poway School District. Most notably, we had the honor of winning the 2001-2002 Mt. Carmel High School club of the year. Furthermore, our club has been featured in local newspapers and even in the Lions International Magazine! (see news to read the articles). We have definitely made a tremendous difference during our first year in our community, and our future only seems brighter.

LEO stands for Leadership, Experience, Opportunity; a motto of which we are very proud. LEO clubs are school or community-based service organizations for young people, from 12 to 28 years old, sponsored by the Lions Club in the nearby area. Our club is made up of Freshman through Senior students and is sponsored by the Rancho Penasquitos Lions Club. Nationally, LEO Club membership exceeds 140,000 and there are over 5,600 LEO Clubs in 139 countries. In our local district, 4L6, there are 10 LEO Clubs to date, including clubs at Rancho Bernardo High School, Poway High School, and Scripps Ranch High School

What is in it for those who join? Well, the LEO Club provides leadership, experience, opportunity, new friends, having fun, helping others, college credit, and community involvement. There's something for everybody and it's a great club to join. We are always open to new members, and if you're not in our area there's probably a LEO Club nearby.
