day of August in the year
One Thousand Eight Hundred and seventy nine
In presence of John Guthrie Smith, Esquire, Advocate, Sheriff of Aberdeen and Kincardine. Compeared James Garden, Advocate in Aberdeen
and gave in the Inventory of the Personal Estate of the after designed now deceased Charles McHardy and oath thereon under written, and craved that the same might be insert and registered in the Sheriff Court Books of Aberdeen and Kincardine at Aberdeen, in terms of the Act of Parliament passed in the forty-eighth year of the reign of His Majesty George the Third, chapter one hundred and forty-nine, entitled “An Act for repealing the Stamp Duties on Deeds, Law Proceedings, and other written or printed Instruments, and the Duties on Legacies and Succession to Personal Estate upon Intestacies, now payable in Great Britain, and for granting new duties in lieu thereof,” and subsequent Acts: which request the Sheriff foresaid found reasonable, and ordained the same to be done accordingly, and of which Inventory and oath the tenor follows, namely – Inventory of the Personal Estate wheresoever situated of Charles McHardy, Farmer in Ordachoy, Corgarff, in the Parish of Strathdon and County of Aberdeen who died at Ordachoy aforesaid on the 9th day of July 1879.

At Aberdeen the Fifteenth day of August One Thousand eight hundred and seventy nine years. In presence of George Bennet Michie Sheriff Clerk depute of Aberdeenshire, Appeared James McHardy residing at Ordachoy Corgarff in the parish of Strathdon and county of Aberdeen a son and one of the nearest of kin of the deceased Charles McHardy, Farmer, Ordachoy, Corgarff and parish of Strathdon aforesaid who being solemnly sworn and examined depones that the said Charles McHardy died at Ordachoy aforesaid domiciled in Scotland upon the ninth day of July Eighteen hundred and seventy nine and the deponent has entered upon the possession and management of the deceased’s Estate as one of his sons and one of the nearest in kin of the said deceased Charles McHardy. That the deponent does not know of any Testamentary Settlement or Writing relative to the disposal of the deceased’s personal Estate or Effects or any part thereof. That the foregoing Inventory signed by the deponent and the said Justice of Peace as relative hereto is a full and complete Inventory of the Personal Estate and Effects of the said deceased Charles McHardy wheresoever situated and belonging or due to him beneficially at the time of his death in so far as the same has come to the deponent’s knowledge. That the deponent does not know of any money or property liable to the duty imposed by the Acts 23 Victoria C15 and 23 & 24 Victoria Chap 80. That the value at this date of the said personal Estate and effects wheresoever situated including the proceeds accruing thereon down to this date is One hundred pounds Sterling and under Two hundred pounds sterling.
