This web site has been published for any person interested in a written study of God’s word. I have no desire to force this material into any home. My only purpose is to encourage people to think about spiritual matters. If you are interested in what the Bible teaches, we believe this publication may aid you in your search for God’s will.

Romans 1:16 tells us that the gospel is God’s power unto salvation. This is the good news that Jesus wanted his disciples to preach to everyone in the whole world (Mat. 28:18-20). Paul explains in 1 Cor. 15 that he preached the gospel, the Corinthians received it, stand in it, and are saved by it (1-2). Truly God has unlimited power to save us any way he chooses. But, he has told us that he has chosen to save by the gospel . Nothing else will do. Praying through and other methods are foreign to the gospel and therefore will not save. This good news had to be heard before one could have any interest in it.

Romans 10:17 tells us that "faith comes by hearing the word of God". You can not believe in that which you have never heard. A good example of this is found in Acts 2:37 which reads, "Now when they heard this, they were pricked in the heart and said, ‘Men and brethren, what shall we do?" Peter told them to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins. When they did so, they were added to the church (v. 47). In all of the examples of conversion, they had to hear the gospel so they would know what to do to be saved. This is the common reasoning which Paul uses in Rom.10:14. We conclude that hearing comes first. Then, the hearer is in the position to accept or reject it. If he or she believes it, obedience will follow.
