The Osler Medical Aid Foundation (OMAF) was launched in 1984 by four McGill medical students. It takes its name from Sir William Osler (1849-1919), one of McGill's best known graduates, renowned for his humanitarian approach to medicine. In this spirit, OMAF's purpose is to help improve access to quality health care in the developing world by:
  • Fostering student interest in world health problems and solutions through on-campus events
  • Encouraging McGill medical students to gain experience in the practice of medicine and public health in developing countries
  • Providing direct financial support to specific service providers and worthwhile projects in developing countries

OMAF remains a student run organization.
