The summary of incidence by region of origin and given haplogroup for the source 3996 haplotype
records is shown in Table 1 and in percentage terms in Table 2. This clearly
demonstrates the under representation of Africa, Asia and Middle East and over
representation from the British Isles. Most of the “other” category were North
American’s, of primarily British Isles origin, who could not trace their
ancestors. When expressed as a percentage (Table 2) nearly 40% were classified
as unknown haplogroup. This identifies that
clustering excluding these individuals, as was done in the phase 2 analysis, may miss sub significant subclusters.
Regional variations in haplogroup percentage are
obvious, but little can be deduced from this raw analysis given the unequal and
self selecting nature of the sampling.
In general they follow trends previously published elsewhere.
