My Review: Gothika
It's good to be Halle Berry...well, most likely.

She's beautiful and talented and has an Oscar. She knows how to make good movies. Good for her.

I enjoyed
Gothika. I went to watch it in a dark theatre by myself as I do most movies and as I was sitting there I realized that not only was I deep within the suspense, but I was a little frightened. I don't scare easily, and it's not that I was so scared, but I found myself dreading what was about to happen, knowing that it would, and wondering if I was going to be able to sleep tonight.

Well, having survived, I must say, there was nothing too tumultuous that I will be losing sleep tonight, but it was greatly suspenseful, and it had a multitude of genuine "jump" moments, thought most of them you knew were coming, and tried to tell yourself you're not going to jump,
which inevitably leads to you jumping even more. I will admit that I jumped several times. And I don't want to label this movie as "scary" for it did not truely scare me. It frightened me, and me says there is a difference between scared and frightened. What it is I'm not entirely sure. But like I said I will not be losing any sleep, but as I was sitting there anticipating something terribly frightening to happen I could only help but think one thing: I love this.

I guess that's what it was. The suspense was really splendid. And I like suspense. I love sitting there
wondering if I'm going to get the shit scared out of me or not, that's why Signs was so fun, but I think that movie really did scare the shit out of me.

Gothika
was good. I encourage you to see it. It's worth your time; it is worth your money. It is worth your future DVD purchase. It was not flawless, however, but it was really bloody, and that makes up for quite a bit with us demented types.

The acting was great. I couldn't spot anything wrong with it. And of course my expertise
is the expertise so definately believe me on that one. The sets were nice. And lighting is always essential in a good "scary" movie. A little generic with the flickering lights though.  The main thing that kept me from giving this movie and 'A' was the story, which is ironic because that's what most movies, uh, rely on. I can't very well say 'I gave this movie and 'A' because it was the best lighting I've ever seen!!' But don't get me wrong, the story was quite fantastic and I can say I wish I'd written it. But I'd change one thing. And since I can't really go into details without spoiling (which I hate), all I can say is, the story is swell and keeps you guessing until a certain point, but once you figure a few things out you might as well throw in the towel.

Other than the somewhat predictabe end, I enjoyed it muchly and thought the actors were quite stupendous. I recomend it. Go see it and such. I survived, and I went by myself...but that's mainly cuz I have no friends.

Rating: B+
Conclusion: Berry nice. Oh I'm so clever.
