My Review: Phone Booth
He mentioned Britney Spears. In the movie. He mentioned her. He sends his love. Curse you Colin, you cut me deep.

Other than that what shall I say about this picture? How about that it was lots of fun. Thrilling, compelling, especially for a rather short movie. Only and hour and 15 mins or so, it's a good thing that almost the whole thing focuses on Colin, cuz he's wonderful.

Truly, he is. His acting (again with that oh-so-perfectly-perfect American accent he's mastered (this time with a New York twist)) is actually quite outstanding. He's Stu Shepard: He's stubborn, he's a cheating husband he's a stuck up Hollywood rep (or something like that); he has a wonderful on-screen mental breakdown. Go Colin. I really think he did do a good job with the acting thing, kind of an important thing in a movie.

Keifer Sutherland...you'd probably never know it was him unless you just bathe in those lucious vocal chord vibrations while watching him star in FOX's
24. He is more or less absent...but not hardly. His voice is present: captivating, breathtaking, my-hairs-on-my-arm-are-freaking-out-from-him-kind-of-voice. It's really interesting how much acting is involve in his dialogue for never being seen onscreen. Keifer...I'm really sorry I haven't gotten around to watching your show yet...but you're wonderful too.

As for Katie Holmes...she can go away.

Director Joel Schumacher has some interesting shots and angles. Nothing terrible wrong with the directing, nothing terribly spectacular. It looks like those satellites-are-watching-you shots from
Enemy of the State, which was a good movie so yeah.

It was the editing that annoyed me. I did not like the screen-in-screenness of it. How dare you try and take the focus off Colin, you dirty bastard.

I thought the story was fun, interesting; very suspenseful. Yeah, his motives are questionable, Stu's persistant "Why me?"s are answered but leaves you still asking why. But, I enjoyed the suspense thoroughly therefore I enjoyed the film. I shall buy this one when it hits DVD. Also I enjoyed it cuz I went to NYC almost a month ago which is where this was filmed and it was exciting to see all the buildings and billboards and go "I was right there! Right where Colin's standing!" If I'd known at the time I would have taken the time to stop and kiss the ground...

Conclusion: Very suspenseful. If that's your kind of movie, this is your movie then. If your kind of movie is one with Colin Farrell, this is also your movie. But please tell me you hate Britney Spears and wish to sacrifice her to the Silicone Gods.
