The MCAT test changed in 1991 then instituted some minor changes in 2003; in 2007, the test will be somewhat shorter and will change to a Computer Based Test (CBT). Students preparing for the Medical College Admissions Test in 2006 will not be affected.

Here is a summary of the 2007 changes:

  • the test will be shorter (approximately 5 hours vs. the current testing time of 8 hours).
  • Students will receive their test scores more quickly.
  • the test will be offered more frequently throughout the year (up to 20 testing dates).
  • the test will be given in smaller, climate-controlled rooms.
