The Saga of the Exiles

These are some of the greatest books that I have ever read. They start in the 22nd Century and soon end up 6 million years in the past. There were many people in the Galactic Milieu that felt they didnt fit in with the space colonising and the alien races that had welcomed Humanity into the Milieu. The only way for them to escape was through a time gate into the past. The time travelers from the Galactic Milieu end up in the Pliocene Epoch where they find two exotic (alien) races that are at war. The two exotic races are the Tanu and the Firvulag and they had been thrown out of their home galaxy because of the barbaric battle religion that they insisted on following.

The Tanu are the more high-tech of the races and with the help of humans developed the skills needed to beat the Firvulag. The downside for the humans is that they are forced to wear grey Torcs that find them to the minds of the Tanu. Also human women are forced into breeding schemes with the Tanu who do not breed very well on Earth.

The Firvulag are also known as the Little People although there are giants amongst them. They are operant metapsychics but have less technology than the Tanu. They make an aliance with the few free humans but are not really to be trusted.

The books follow the adventures of many characters in the Pliocene world but focuses mainly on Group Green. There were eight people in the group. Aiken Drum was thrown out of the Milieu for being a public menace. Elizabeth Orme was a Metapsychic Operant in the Milieu but after a crash had lost her powers. Stein Oleson was a deep sea driller but wanted to become a Viking style character in the past. Felice Landry like Aiken, was a criminal with very violent tendances. Richard Voorhees was a star ship captain that was found guilty of leaving some Poltroyans stranded in the void. Bryan Grenfell was an anthropologist whoose lover had run into the Pliocene. Claude Majewski had been recently widowed and agreed to go back in time with Annamaria Roccaro. Annamaria (Amerie) was a nun who wanted to become a sort of hermit in the Pliocene.

I could continue this summary for pages and pages but not only would everyone get bored and leave but I would reveal too many spoilers!!

These books are highly recommended and should be read before the next four in the same series.
