With his arm stretching far with the Thieves' Empire, Jerik Speardragon had many scouts ever searching for opportunities. It was from a scout in Sumanry- a city of in the kingdom of Aula Draconaria- who sent message to Master Speardragon of what seem to be an empty castle. Soon, Speardragon and five other senior guild members (including Aragorn) journeyed to Sumanry.

There they found that the castle they sought to rob was actually the abandoned fortress of the Great Necromancer. At the prescribed time, all five thieves entered the ruined fortress. To the surprise of all, the fortress was not as empty as was expected. A great many of the undead and conjured servants of the Great Necromancer still wandered the seemingly endless halls of the fortress. These "guards" however, were far more formidable than any guards the thieves expected to find. While very few injuries were sustained from the "guards" and they were avoided with out fail (usually), there was something much greater. It felt as if there was an eye or some seeing force always on them, perhaps even causing the crumbling of the wall and ceiling upon the thieves.

However, it was also found that many of the riches of the Great Necromancer were left behind when the Mages of the Everlasting Sun- who had destroyed the Necromancer. It was Aragorn who found the evil Arrow of Soul Feast and the main treasury vault. The other four guild members found the Demon's Shard and many evil talismans which were not taken. Yet it was Lord Speardragon himself who found the most wonderful treasures of them all.

Upon entering the main conjuring room, Speardragon saw a sword, set in dark glass near the conjuring circle as if someone planned a great transformation of it. This sword was in a black scabbard set with a black metal, though the metal seemed to gleam like gold. Upon the black pommel was set a deep, dark jewel. Yet this jewel was not a solid black, but a shining, clouded black; though often one could see a change in the color- perhaps to a dark blue, red, or green. It was then that Speardragon drew the blade, and he did the dark blade ignited into a great black flame. Upon the blade were etched many runes of ancient kind. This Speardragon took. With the sword and all other acquired treasures, the thieves left quickly- perhaps for fear of the "seeing power."

Once back within the kingdom of Llacrynia, Speardragon sold many things that where found in the Necromancer's fortress. To the Mages of the Everlasting Sun the Demon's Shard and the Arrow of Soul Feast were sold for 1,00,000 gold coins each. However, the sword was kept. Speardragon met with a wizard of great knowledge and power. In this meeting the runes upon the blade of the sword were translated by the wizard. Upon the blade was written: "The dark flame which strikes fear into the hearts of mortals; may it burn through all thou foes. Its swiftness unknown, its power great. That which moves so quietly and unseen, when carrying the black flame, when wielding Avasmus- the Flaming Shadow." So it was found that Speardragon's newly acquired sword was indeed the legendary Flaming Shadow. Though a weapon of great power, it is not a weapon of evil. It was then guessed that the Necromancer was attempting to transform the power of the Sword from neutral to pure evil, in his desperate yearn for power. The power now resides in the hands of the Mighty Jerik Speardragon, Master of thieves.
