Cross-A-Lot Mystery

 

Welcome to the Cross-A-Lot Mystery Page.  This mystery will make a 22” x 22” preemie baby quilt.  If you want to make a larger quilt, you may do the mystery additional times and get a larger quilt.  Let’s get started!!!

 

 

Fabric:

 

For this mystery, you will need 3 different fabrics.  Since this will be a baby quilt, the fabric could be pastel values, could be bold, could be pink and blue, or red, white and blue for a patriotic theme.

 

   Fabric A:  1 Fat Quarter (A Fat quarter measures 18” x 22”).  This fabric should be a light color.

 

   Fabric B:  ½ Yard.  This fabric should be a darker tone and contrast fabric C.

 

   Fabric C: 1 Fat Quarter (A Fat Quarter measures 18” x 22”).  This should  be a darker tone and contrast fabric B.

 

Knowledge:

 

For this mystery, you will need to be able to use a rotary cutter and ruler, and be able to sew an even scant quarter inch.  You will also have to iron toward the darker fabric.

 

 

Cutting:

 

Fabric A:

 

          1 Strip:   2.5” x 18”  Fold in half lengthwise and cut. You will get 2 pieces measuring 2.5" x 9".

          4 strips:  3.5” x 18”

          1 Strip:   2.5” x 18”  Cut this into 3 - 2.5” x 5.5” pieces. There will be a little left over. This can go to your scrap bin.

 

Fabric B:

 

          1 Strip:   5.5” x 18”  Fold in half lengthwise and cut. You will get 2 pieces measuring 5.5" x 9".

          3 strips:  2.5” x 18” 

          1 Strip:   8.5” x 9”

 

Fabric C:

 

          2 Strips:  2.5” x 18”

          1 Strip:   8.5” x 11” Fold in half lengthwise and cut. You will get 2 pieces measuring 8.5: x 5.5".
