Welcome to Michael Baker Jr.'s Professional Home Page. The purpose of this page is to provide viewers with basic information about my professional background and interests as well as other details about my professional life.

To the left you can see a picture of me receiving my bachelor's degree on December 7th, 2002. I graduated from
Sam Houston State University with Highest Honors in Psychology. I am currently attending the Social Psychology Doctoral program at Florida State University.

My interests include the scientific study of psychology but more specifically social psychology and evolutionary perspectives. I am currently working with
Dr. Jon Maner. Our work focuses on emotions and motivations.
My first study focused upon parent's preferences for the mates of their children. I was able to present my findings at the 15th annual conference of the Human Behavior and Evolution Society in Lincoln, Nebraska in June of 2003.
My current work centers on domain specific risk assessment and a functional theory of emotions..
I plan to go on to get a Ph.D. in Social Psychology and pursue a career in academia, teaching at the college level and doing research.
