Whats Inside a Rotary Engine You ask....

Well I found some old pics from when I rebuilt the 13B engine in my Rx2.. so lets find out......

Heres the Rotor housings and the Rear end Plate.

Note that the Chrome is totally intact on these Rotor housings, as expected, since the engine still had fantastic compression (120 p.s.i.) when dismantled. The reason the engine was disassembled was due to coolant leaking into the # 1 combustion chamber. The apparent fault in the car was that when the car got hot, coolant was bypassed out of the radiator cap and hmm all over the place. After replacing the radiator cap and the fault still occuring, it was obvious there was too much pressure in the water system. This was due to the fact that combustion pressure was entering the water passage. Also after leaving the car overnight and removing the spark plugs, bright green coolant could be seen on the tips of the spark plugs in #1 chamber.

The side plates have just come back from Machining at Interbrown. He used to charge $80 a set to get machined.

Heres the Engine after re-assembly. Note the factory 13B Sump has been reversed as the engine was to be used in an Rx2.

And from the front.

The Exhaust side. This engine was the good one of two which originally came from two wrecked Rx5's that Myself and Micheal purchased years ago.... pulled the engines and trannies and then dumped.

More to come ...
