What's New - Dec 2003

December 17, 2003 - Went to dinner with Miles, Aya, & Shirley to Valentino's.  I'm by no means a culinary snob, but I was a bit disappointed by the food - maybe it was just in direct relation to the cost??  The Crème Brulee was probably the highlight of the meal.  Anyhow, the company was great even though Miles was there.

I get home last night & open my Christmas cards.  What a delight it was to see that I got one from Miles & Aya.  And yes, in true Miles form, he ONCE AGAIN attached his broken off ugly @$$ toenail to me.  I guess I should be thankful it was only a toenail and not his blister again.  For those of you who are sending Christmas cards to Miles, please be sure to attached a toenail or blister!!

- So I've made the decision again to cut off ties with the P.Ho.  I need to be completely incommunicado with him or else I'll never get my head out of my @$$.  It's been pretty hard because I really liked talking to him, but I know that this move is for the best.  I hope that I can stay strong and won't fold & call!!  This is my 3rd or 4th attempt at trying this so I don't really know how well I will do.  Will keep you posted.

Last week was really busy with work.  I had to work until 9 or 10 almost every night last week.  Some nights were company related dinners, some nights were just plain working at the office.  Friday night was the company party at the Lobster.  It was ok.  Not as much fun as last year.  Layout of the place was not good for a party, but hey - what the heck.  Free food & beer.  Here is a pic of me and some friends
(Jody, Jen, & Christa)

So I went to see Henry's new digs on Saturday night.  We were touring through his room and I saw a red button on the wall.  I asked him what it did and he said that he didn't know.  I asked him if the room was going to self destruct if I pushed it - he repeated that he didn't know what it did.  Me being me, I had to push the darn button.  All hell broke loose.  It was the alarm's panic button.  The bad thing is that Henry never really used the alarm system so he wasn't 100% sure what the code was.  After 5 minutes he found the instructions & luckily pulled the code number out of his butt.  Phew.  That was a bit embarrassing.

This week will prove to be pretty bad as well, in terms of work, but at least it keeps me out of trouble.  More later...

December 8, 2003 -
Last week was a pretty busy week for me.  I had a couple of ladies, Dana & Tracy, from our AR office in town so I tried to spend some time with them.  Gladstones on Monday night was pretty good, Tuesday night was dinner with Miles, Aya, & Ron for Miles & Ron's birthday @ Maggiano's, Wednesday night was El Cholo with the girls from work (trying to get to the Clippers game, but I got sick from something I ate), Thursday night was Alejo's.  Yes, I'm about 20 pounds heavier because of the chowing down!  Ugh!!

I saw Last Samurai on Friday night.  It was better than I thought it would be.  I had really wanted to see Bad Santa, but surprisingly, it was completely sold out!  On Saturday, I got some Christmas shopping done, but I'm no where NEAR being finished!  Oh well.  I'll just have to do what I can.  On Sunday, I came into work to get some stuff done.  My season is picking up so it looks like I'll be working crazy hours/days again!!   oh well....job security!!

December 4, 2003 -
So we all know that I'm a total bonehead when it comes to relationships.  Let's see how I can do the wrong thing at all times (ladies, listen up - this is a list of what NOT to do):

1.)  Get involved with a player/man-ho,
2.)  Truly believe that I can be in control of the situation WITH same said player/man-ho (P.Ho for short)
3.)  Make sure he's at least 1800 miles away from you (this is actually the GOOD thing),
4.)  Totally disregard the counsel of the friends who know the P.Ho and listen to everyone else (because that's what you want to hear),
5.)  Believe the countless number of lies and half truths (because that's what you want to hear),
6.)  Don't rely on your gut instincts but try to be fair with a P.Ho that's a liar (because that's what you want to  hear),
7.)   Last but not least, allow him back into my life when I was so successful at almost keeping him out!!

December 1, 2003
- Hope all of you guys had a great Turkey Day!  Bert, Raye & Lisa spent Thanksgiving with me & my family.  It's always nice to have people who don't HAVE to be there (ie, family) with us during the holidays!  New blood...this way, the Kayano's don't attack each other....

I spent Friday night in Palm Springs with Erin, Henry, and several of Henry's friends.  First, though, we went to Cabazon.  BIG mistake.  We got there at 7:00am (read - we left the house at 5:00AM) and we got one of the last parking spots.  Luckily, it was under a tree so there was plenty of shade.  The crowds were absolutely RIDICULOUS!!!  People were LINED up outside of The Gap, Tommy H.'s, A/X.  It was like being at Disneyland.  Erin & I gave it the ol' CSUN try, but gave up by around 10:00am.  We still walked around, just because we couldn't believe that there were so many Asians in one spot.  Erin made a comment that if terrorists needed a new place to bomb, Cabazon should be the place.  I mean, just think - there must have been at least ½ the Chinese population and ½ the Japanese population just in that one spot.

Second, how many of you folks have ever heard of Metro Sexual Male?  This is basically a straight guy that has gay tendency towards fashion, shopping, etc.  Henry & all of his friends are Metro.  They talk of Bath & Body Works, bed skirts, & 1000 thread count sheets like no woman I know.  This one guy (who is a cop working with ATF) was actually horrified by the thought that I didn't have a bed skirt.  His comment to me was, "So what...you mean you leave your box spring EXPOSED?"  This went on pretty much all night with Erin & I making fun of them, and the guys genuinely puzzled.

Lastly, I really have no funny Henry stories this trip except for Roy's.  Henry thought it'd be a good idea to go have dinner at Roy's in Rancho Mirage (we were in LaQuinta).  He tells us that Roy's is only 20 minutes away.  45 minutes later, we're still trying to get there.  Needless to say I was ready to gnaw off my hand (this seems to be a recurring theme with Henry).  However, dinner was great & we enjoyed ourselves immensely.  Erin & I determined that if we were to ever travel with Henry again, we needed to: 1.) travel separately, and 2.) not expect him to show up anywhere we go - if he does, great; if not, no big deal.
