What's New - Nov 2003

November 24, 2003 - As much as Miles would LOVE it if I had some racy news to report on N'awlins, I'm afraid that my trip out there was pretty tame.  (Ladies & Gentlemen, stay CLEAR of the Hurricanes).  New Orleans was a great town!  It reminds me of Las Vegas in the sense that people will wear the most outrageous things that don't necessarily FIT them.  Case in point, I went to eat at an Oyster Bar (Felix's) and was standing next to an older lady wearing a spandex deal.  Eew.  She was a bit chunky, too.

Since I was there for a site inspection, I spent all day on Thursday going from hotel to hotel.  They all look the same to me now.  That evening, I decided to brave it out and go out to Bourbon Street on my own.  I saw a beautiful establishment - wood paneling doors, sweeping staircase - I went in to ask if they did restaurant buy outs for private parties.  The doorman gave me an odd look and asked me to repeat myself.  I did and he responded, "you'll have to talk to the day manager."  I asked if they had a sales kit of any kind and he said, "uh....no."  No problem.  I started back down the street.  As I was walking down the street I started to notice other signs - "adult video & book store", "Live sex shows", and on and on it went.  I backtracked to the first place I stopped into.  Sure enough, it was Rick's Cabaret - a gentlemen's club.  DUH!!!

Props to the local beer, Abita!  It was very tasty!!  Need me some of THAT back here!  All in all, it was a great trip, even though I was alone and feeling lonely.  oh well...more fun next time!!

November 17, 2003
- I love getting my butt chewed off at work.  With all the chewing, you'd think my butt would be nonexistent.  I'd rather have a return on all this yelling...turns out - not so much.  Basically, I got in trouble because they think I pad my budget too much.  Fortunately, they were getting mad at me based on erroneous information.  It turns out, I was right.  But they will never acknowledge that I am right.

I went to Las Vegas this weekend with Leslie, Erin, & Christy.  I remembered why I love to fly.  I left work at 4:30pm...didn't get to our meeting point in Monrovia until 6:30pm.  We finally left Monrovia at 9:00pm, got into Las Vegas around 1:30am.  I went to sleep - the other girls tried their hand at gambling.  The following day we had buffet brunch at the Aladdin - pretty good.  We spent the rest of our time shopping at the Primm Outlets.  It was GOOOOOOD fun!  Bought tons of stuff.  Even did some Christmas shopping!  Yay, me.    A
picture of the girls (Erin, Christy, Jenny & Leslie).

That evening, we planned on going dancing!  I decided to torture Christy by doing her hair & make up. Holy cow - she had guys hitting on her...we couldn't figure out if it as the hair/make up or the way she was dancing!  In any case, we get to Club Rain and the lines have already formed.  I don't do lines.  We decided to go eat dinner instead and come up with an alternate plan.  As we were leaving, we ran into Erin's friend who got us into Club Rain!  As we were leaving, Christy noticed one of the guys from NSync coming in.   We left on Sunday around 12:30pm.  I didn't get home until 9:30pm.  It was exhausting.  Traffic was pretty bad.  Ugh.  THIS IS WHY IT'S BETTER TO FLY!!!

November 10, 2003 - I went to see Love Naturally.  It was ok.  Two Weeks Notice was better, but it was that type of genre.  I wanted to slit my wrists after.  (men suck).  Hugh Grant...man...he's a babe. (men still suck.)

On Saturday, I went to my sensei's 88th birthday party.  Needless to say, she was quite surprised (her birthday is actually on January 1st).  Probably not the best thing to do to an 88 year old.  I think she's still confused. That evening, I went to Beaches in Manhattan Beach to go dancing with a couple of co-workers and their friends.  I actually had a great time.  (despite the fact that men suck).

Now, the reason I think men suck - they suck because they are big fat liars!!!  Oh and by the way, gentlemen - there IS such a thing as lying by omission.  Ladies, the trick is to install a really good BS detector.  And listen to your guts.  Your gut instincts will never steer you wrong.  Phew.  Good thing I'm not bitter or anything...

November 3, 2003 - Monday!!  Yay!!  This means happy hour at Paco's Tacos...6 coronitas for $6, $.99 tacos, $3 margaritas!!  Last week's HH was fun - hung out with Beth & her friends.

I had dinner with Jana & Jeff last week.  That was a lot of fun.  True confessions came out, as well as some really funny memories - Bobby N taking Jana to "teach" her how to drive stick shift...only to find out AFTERWARDS that he didn't even know how to drive stick!!!

Happy 1st Birthday to Kyle!  His birthday party was on Saturday...he's such a cutie!  Steve & Maile's daughter, Gracie, is such a cutie too...I've got high hopes for those two in 18 years!!  Also saw some photos from Sao's Japan trip...you guys have to see her ghost picture...it was kinda freaky.  Hopefully she'll post it on her site...

That evening, our church had a singles ministry called Soli Deo, which I attended (see last month's update - have taken myself out of dating pool).  BJ's for munchies & drinks afterwards.  No, I didn't have any drinks - I really didn't think it looked good, especially considering that it was kind of like a church activity.  It wasn't one of the high points in our time together.

I started Christmas shopping on Sunday.  I didn't get further than getting myself two pairs of shoes.  Oh well...better luck next time
