What's New - Oct 2003

October 27, 2003 - Not much happened this weekend.  I was feeling pretty drained, so I ended up sleeping on saturday.  all day.  all night.  Sunday was my nephew's b-day at chuck e cheese's.  you folks with kids - please don't do something as ghetto as this.  i hate that place.

so a friend of mine pointed me towards a website called skyauction.com (www.skyauction.com).  Pretty neat deals for vacation packages!  If the price is right - i may be taking one, too!!!  Ok, so I don't have any time for the next 3 months, but hey, one could dream...

i've come to the decision this week that i need to permanently pull myself out of the dating pool (yeah, i didn't know i was in it, either).  if there is a guy within a 5,000 mile radius who is all wrong for me, he'll be at the top of my interest list.  thus, i feel that it is far wiser to just pull myself out of the pool indefinitely.

thanks for reading my website, folks!

October 20, 2003 -
Well, my folks are back from China/Japan.  They had a great time.  They came back bearing many gifts!  That's always the best part of welcoming them home!  Mom brought home tons of silk scarves from China.  I'm not sure what Dad brought back - he was pretty out of it.  I took bert, raye, & my folks to paco's where my dad promptly fell asleep.

My trip to New York went off without a hitch - I did the stuff I needed to do, then had a good time the duration of the trip.  On Friday night, I went to dinner with a friend in Koreatown then to see the Empire State Building.  It was pretty cold and raining pretty hard.  I was ready to go back inside after a few minutes.  On Saturday, I found this great bagel shop on 6th Avenue called "Murray's" that had some really good bagels.  The trek from Times Square to Greenwich was a challenge, but was worth it!  I got to know the city a little better.  I still haven't figured out the darn subway system, but I'll be sure to make a point of it on my next run out there, whenever that might be.  The best news of this trip was that I didn't get pissed off and didn't sprain my ankle!!  Of course, I'm sure the fact that I didn't drink this trip had a lot to do with my ankle still being safe!

So sad - no more trips planned for this year.  Well, I do need to go to New Orleans & St Kitts before the end of this year, but I'm sure my company won't allow it because I'm now into my busy season.  wah, wah wah...poor me.

This weekend was pretty uneventful.  Friday night, tosh was in town so bert, tosh & I went to Paco's for dinner.  We had a couple of margarita's.  YUMMMMM.  It's funny how the whole tone of conversations change when tosh is around.  In the midst of my really good buzz, my high school church youth advisor came to say hi.  THAT wasn't embarrassing.

On Saturday, I went to a baby shower in Orange County.  It's really funny how 10 years ago when I first started going to baby showers, I would get a baby bath & fill it with all kinds of stuff.  Fast forward 10 years - I scan the list the morning of the shower & pick out the ONE thing that hits my price range.  If I don't find anything in my exact price range, I'm even willing to go up $20 to save on the hassle of buying multiple items.  The catch is that the one thing HAS to fit into one of the gift bags.  If it doesn't fit, I pick something else.

Here's the highlight of my weekend - I went down to San Diego to go to a Korean Bath House with Tosh.  Actually, this place really was more like a spa.  It was nice.  For $50, I got an entrance into the spa, as well as the exfoliation treatment.  The first pass of the exfoliation gloves almost caused me to jump off the table.  I definitely lost the first layer of my skin.  However, my skin is now softer than a baby's butt.  I think I'm heading to SD at least once a month to do this.

So my boss went and did it.  While I was on a rigorous site inspection in Cabo, he turned in his resignation.  Our department is in shock.  I'm just pretty disappointed.  I really liked my boss.  I still like my boss, but he's not really my boss anymore after October 20th.  He asked me to do something on Friday and I said, "no, i don't think I want to."  I think he was pretty shocked, judging from his expression.  I said, "well, what are you going to do, fire me?"  He turned around and punched me and said, "well, what are you going to do?  Report me?"  Gooooooood one.  See why I love my boss?

Cabo was great, the event will be great.  The only not so great thing is that I'll be in Cabo San Lucas on my birthday with a bunch of strangers.  I'm going to be so sad that day.  :(  Another year older.  Ugh.

I'll be going to New York in a couple of weeks.  It'll be fun b/c I'll have a chance to see one of my co-workers from another office again.  Hopefully, I'll even have a couple of hours to go SHOPPING!!  WOO HOO!!

My folks have been in China and just got to Japan yesterday.  My mom asked me to do one thing - water her plants.  Miles will tell you how much I suck at that.  I've already managed to kill one.  :(  Hope she doesn't notice.
