| Sept 27, 2004 - So Poker Weekend. I lost. Big surprise. I just don’t have a system for betting in place. Plus I got crappy cards. Plus the “Beginners” poker night had some sandbaggers there. NO FAIR!! I CALL FOUL!! Ok, I don’t want to pull a Miles and be a sore loser, so I’ll just say that it was a fun learning experience. Nothing new to update other than the fact that I’m starting to plan my vacation for 2005 – Thailand! I can’t wait to book it out! It seems like a pretty popular destination based on hotel & airfare availability. Oh, and if it’s not readily apparent – I’m off the diet & run schedule. I haven’t run in 1 ½ weeks, but I plan on running 2 miles tonite. Ugh. I hope it doesn’t hurt… Sept 20, 1004 - AAAAAHHHHH...relaxing on the beach in Maui! What a wonderful way to spend a weekend. I'm looking even darker than before. Ron - you wouldn't recognize me now!! After I got into the airport, i took a shuttle to the hotel. My folks & I went to lunch (L&L) then went back to the hotel for me to spend some quality beach time. We had dinner at Roy's (my dad doesn't have the appreciation for fine cuisine...he's all about mass & bulk...). We woke up at 2:00am to go to Haleakala. I'm still trying to figure out what the big deal is. It's freezing cold, gusty winds, and a long ride up (10,000 ft above sea level). We get to the top around 4:30am...wait until about 5:30am...it starts to get light so I get my folks out of the car & drag them to the hut. Because I wanted to get some photos in, i went outside and waited. where I froze my @$$ off. The target sunrise time was 6:06am. At 6:03 we started to see the rosy red glow of the sunrise...everyone starts getting excited. Then I make the comment to those around me, "doesn't it look like the clouds are rising higher as the sun starts to rise???" Well, just at 6:06am, the clouds come in & completely block out the beautiful sunrise. ARRRGH! All that for nothing. And I'm never doing that again!! I also had a chance to take a surfing class. I LOVED it!! I'd do it again in a heartbeat!! It was really fun!! I ran my folks to the airport right after my class. It was pretty funny b/c i got out of the car to drop off my parents stuff & forgot that I didn't have anything more than a bathing suit on. Eh...it's Hawaii...i'm sure they see that all the time. Good weekend. Had lots of fun...lots of sun...need to do that again soon! Sept 13, 2004 - So in a whirlwind decision, i've decided to go to Maui this Thursday. Bert & Raye graciously offered their time share to my folks last week and they booked their flights that very night. I decided the following day to join my parents on Thursday to enjoy some time off in Maui. i've already signed myself up for surfing lessons! WOOO HOOO! I can't wait! AND in a landmark decision, I've decided NOT to do any site inspections while I'm there (though VERY tempting to check out the Ritz, Four Seasons, & Fairmont properties). Much to my amazement, the P.Ho is back at his ol' tricks. It's really funny to hear the lines from a different perspective. He's convinced himself that the chain of events were all my fault. His view on the way things happened is ridiculous. Everyone is telling me it's my fault that he's still calling b/c i actually talk to him still. Everyone's advice: Hang up. The major reason I'm hesitant to do it is b/c iknow that rat will gossip about me like crazy if I totally shun him and in my position, I can't afford it. I know I made a dumb mistake and that I should just take it like a man but really - if i can avoid it, i will. My running skills have gone WAAAAAY down. I'd like to think it's the poor air quality & high heat, but ijust think i'm regressing. i suck. Miles is right, i'm probably NOT going to be able to do the 1/2 marathon in Long Beach next month. Booo. Oh well. At least i'm still running. :) Let's look at the positive. aloha & mahalo, folks! more next week! Sept 7, 2004 - VYay...long Labor Day Weekend. It was HOT this weekend!! I thought I'd MELT!! I didn't go running on Saturday or Sunday, but managed to get out on Monday morning for a 7 mile run/jog/walk. It was still hotter than heck! As I was walking during cool down i noticed a mosquito sucking the life right out of me. Great...now I have West Nile disease, too. Hmmm...i wonder if I can give it to Miles... Nothing eventful this weekend. Hung out at Sao's house with Bert, Ron, Laura, and Lance! It was good seeing everyone even though Ron & Lance started to double team me. Man, some things never change. Miles mentioned that Ron's been on fire on the court lately. I had the opportunity to witness his skills with Kyle's baby basketball hoop. Pretty awesome, i must say. I decided to try my home grown version of TLC's Clean Sweep. I got as far as my clothes, shoes, & purses. Holy cow!! Who knew I had so much crap??!! What's worse is that that was the EASY part! :( I still have a ton of paperwork that needs to be filed. I can't tell you how many times the thoughts, "But I paid so much for that..." or "I just know I'll need/use that some time." Last night I went with Erin, Bert & my folks to Redondo Beach Pier. What a zoo. I really do hate that place but they had this Lobster Fest at Quality Seafood. $10 per lobster. Yum. I was still hungry after i ate. Luckily, bert & erin felt the same so we actually went to El Torito's after to eat. I had 1 taco. what a waste. Oh yeah, gained weight this week. I really need to shape up my eating habits & exercise more. I've been slacking... |
