Spam Musubi Recipe (As told by a Japanese kanaka in Hilo) Get a can of Spam Cook up some rice in your rice cooker Get a package of Onigiri Nori(seaweed to you haoles), cut the sheets in half, they should be the exact width as the can of Spam, well at least in Hawaii... Take out the Spam, cut into 1/4inch slices(about 10 per can or so). Save the can, do not rinse out the jelly(though we take out the huge chunks) Fry Spam in sesame oil Scramble an egg and fry it in a large pan(Kinda like an omelet) Use the Spam can to cookie cut the flat egg in squares Fill the Spam can with 1/2 inch of rice, sprinkle some Furikake(Japanese seaweed spice you put on onigiri or sushi), add the fried Spam, add an egg square, add another 1/2 inch of rice Plop it onto a a piece of seaweed, roll that bugger up Cut at a slight angle for presentation Eat with shoyu and wasabi Mmmmmmmm! |
