New gigs! In May, I'll be performing two shows with my friend Ariel Wickham, in an Ella Fitzgerald-Joe Pass style duo for our Capstone Project in our AP Lit class. We will be performing at 2 coffee shops here in Carroll County, Maryland. The money we make will benefit Farm Aid, an organization that benefits family farmers who are constantly losing their land to corporate farms.
Also in May, I will be performing the concert I've been putting together for my independent study in school. I'll be playing with Sam Foulger (drums), my brother, Tim Wolfe, Jr. (bass), Ariel (vocals), and my dad, Tim Wolfe, Sr. (saxophone). The music will include solo guitar work, some jazz standards, and some original tunes.

I have new pictures in the Gallery of me playing at the final big band concert of the Rowan University Jazz Camp. There are two pictures: the original photo and a close up. The camp was great, I learned a lot and had a good time. It also got me more interested in big band music.

I just got back from a busy, but exciting weekend. Friday, my brother, Tim, and I had a gig in Jersey City. That night we took the subway into New York City and we went into Greenwich Village. First we went to Fat Cat, and saw this band that reminded be of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. After listening to a set, we walked over to Smalls and saw a jazz trio (guitar, bass, and drums). Then another group played, and we went back to Fat Cat to listen to a jam session. Tim sat in, but I didn't because I didn't bring my guitar. I listened to some of the guys talking to one another at the end of the gig, and I now realize how rough it really is to try to make it as a jazz musician in New York. I've heard before how tough it is, but meeting actual New York musicians made me understand the risks involved. Overall, I'd say it was a very inspirational experience to see guys who don't make a lot of money, but still work hard to perfect their craft.
