I have put some information together and hope to help some understand it better and help us find a cure for this diease

Here are some basics about diabetes.

Almost 16 million people in the United States of America have diabetes. Half of them don't even know they have it!
When a body works normal, the food turns into glucose
(a kind of sugar)
in the stomach, and it goes into the bloodstream.
Insulin is produced in the pancreas and goes into the bloodstream too.
It helps glucose move from the blood into the body's cells.
Insulin and glucose work together so the cells can produce energy from food.

Increases glucose levels:

Eating
Stress
Illness

Decreases glucose levels:

Eating proper foods (Dieting)
Insulin
Exercise

Normal blood glucose levels:

Before eating ** 70 - 115
After Eating ** 80 -140

Type I (Insulin-dependent diabetes) - the pancreas doesn't produce insulin.

In type I diabetes, the body doesn't produce any insulin.

Children and young people often have this type of diabetes,
although older people can develop it too.
The body's immune system is supposed to kill cells that cause
disease, but they sometimes start killing the cells which produce
insulin. The reason for this 'mistake' is unknown.

Type II (Non-insulin-dependent diabetes) - the pancreas produces some insulin.

In type II diabetes, some insulin is produced but less and less is
made over time. Many people with type II diabetes are overweight.
Also older people develop this type of diabetes because their body
functions decrease.

Gestational diabetes

Gestational diabetes sometimes develops in women, when they are
pregnant. It usually disappears after the baby is born, but more of
half of these women will have permanent diabetes later in life.
Proper weight control and exercise lower the risk of developing
diabetes for these women.

Hyperglycemia

Too much glucose in the blood is called hyperglycemia. Hyperglycemia
can cause certain changes in a body like:

always tired

frequent urination (especially during night)

always hungry (especially after eating)

unexplained weight loss

blurred vision

numbness and tingling of feet

wounds that won't heal

infections (vaginal itching in females)

sexual dysfunction

Treatment plans

There are five parts to a treatment plan that can help to keep
glucose levels in an acceptable range:

Meals: balancing what and when to eat

Motion: an exercise plan

Medication: oral diabetes medicine or insulin

Monitoring: checking blood glucose levels on a regular basis - making sure the treatment plan is working

Managing: learning all about diabetes and the power to manage life

I hope this Page helps you understand and know the different type of Diabetes I don't claim to be a Profesional in this Feild These are just some info I had collected from My Doctor to help me understand This Disease that I have and wanted to share with others
