Welcome to my tutorial for the sandstone background tile that I have created. If you want to use the tutorial in your website or post it to a newsgroup please contact me.

You will need Paint Shop Pro version 7 Here There are no special filters needed for this tile, everything you need to make it is included in the Paint Shop Pro program itself.

Open a new image in PSP I sized mine at 300 x 300 just for ease of working, and resized it when I was done.

Click the flood fill tool .. then go over to your pallet and on foreground click an select patterns.. OldPaper (see scrnsht)

Go to ...Effects.. Geometric effects... Curley q and apply the following setings

go to ...Effects... Sharpen More.. apply that twice.

Next click on ..Effects ...Textures...Sandstone and apply the following settings.

Once its applied while still selected I go to effects... sharpen. sharpen more an do that twice

Now, go to ...Colors...Greyscale... and then ..Increase Colors...16million and click ok. Once you have done that Click layers and add a raster layer, with your floodfill tool still selected click on the palette and select a color of your choice, I set the opacity of mine at about 21 and then add layers of fill to get the color I prefer.

Its not real difficult I realize but I like the effect very much. Hope you all enjoy!
