This is a background that I would use for an image or perhaps a button or something, I think its a bit bold to do as a whole page background but its pretty and fun to make. So lets get started!!!

Things you need are the Ulead ArtTextures filterGet it here and you need the Fantastic Machines Paint engineGet it here. You can download a trial version of PSP Here

Once you have downloaded those, unzip them to the plugins folder of your Paint Shop Pro and reboot the program and it should be fine. Now to begin..

Open a new work space in your PSP, it should be 200 x 200 with a transparent background. Next set your foreground color to #000080 and flood fill the workspace. On the top tool bar click on .. Effects... Plugins... PaintEngine and use the following settings: Brush: push intensity:=1.07 lighten:=1.2 bias:=1.00 pull intensity:=.99 lighten:=-2.7 and bias:=.33 Effect: 1.00 Stroke: type:=uphill length:=1 radiate:=1.00 motion angle:=0 curl:=0 direction channel:=R and click ok.

Once that is done you click on Effects...Plug In.. Eye Candy 3.1Fur and use the following settings for that: Your going to use the "Frosted Window" setting and the following as well: Wav spacing:=18 Waviness(pixels):=74 hair length:=20 shiniess:=11 Click ok. As you can see this background is done primarily with your plug in filters. Go to ...Effects.. Plugins.. Ulead Art Textures and use the following: On Palette Ramp (left hand side) select the gold which is Palette no.5, on the pattern samples selefct the bottom right hand corner of the second row.

Once that is done click ok which will return you to your work space. Your going to repeat the Eye Candy 3.1 effect with the same settings you used previously. You may choose to sharpen or blur the image if you like, I did not. I left it just as it appeared after the last application of the frosted window effect. And that is how you make my frosted gold backdrop. I hope you enjoyed the tut!
