Lake O'Hara in Yoho National Park
British Columbia, Canada
Lake O'Hara is truly one of the most beautiful valleys I've seen.  It is renowned for it's serenity. A walk around Lake O'Hara is stunning and it is one of several lakes in the locale. It is an area that makes one run out of adjectives and spend much time just lookin' and marvelling at the beauty.  You have the option of staying in the lodge, an option I have not taken to date.  You can get into the valley via a 13 km hike up Cataract Brook Trail or take the shuttle.  Reservations are required for the campground and the shuttle.
The campsites are in a group with cook houses, privy, water, etc a km north of Lake O'Hara.  This is water exiting from Lake O'Hara and running beside the road from the campsites to the Lake.
This is the view standing at the north end of the lake.  It is one of those views at which I involuntarily moan.

Yukness Mountain is on the right in the photo. Mount Huber rises to the left out of the photo. Glacier Peak is in the background top centre. My destination is Wiwaxy Gap high on Mt. Huber to the left out of the photo.  I will get there by going along the lake to the left, up into the basin between the three mountains, and where Lake Oesa is located, then back along the Huber ledges to the gap.
Outstanding scenes like this accompany me as I rise along the north shore of the lake enroute to Lake Oesa.
That is Mount Shaffer, south of Lake O'Hara. There is a marvellous hike along the slope just below the line of snow.  The All Soul's Alpine Route. I am planning that for tomorrow.
Rising further on the north side of Lake O'Hara.  This is looking back down the trail over the lake and west with Odaray Mountain in the distance.
