The Fryatt Valley trailhead is about 32 kms south of Jasper townsite. I'd been in the Fryatt Valley in 1998. This is my second trip in. I stayed five days and was able to hike around Fryatt Lake in the lower valley and up the headwall into the upper valley. The hike around the lake is just beautiful and the upper valley is inspiring.  This is a trip I will likely repeat.  It is spectacular.

A beautiful meadow east of the old fire road about 10 minutes from the trailhead.

A Ptarmigan and her chicks.  She won't leave the path 'till her chicks are safely out of the way. Later I startled a beautiful big bull moose in the middle of the trail.  I didn't have the presence of mind to capture him on film. I was as startled as he was.

Looking down the valley Southeast along the Icefields Parkway from the sand cliffs.  The sand cliffs are better seen in the 1998 pictures.
