Mt. Edith Cavell is automobile accessible.  I visited it one afternoon between packing trips.  It is a pleasant way to spend an afternoon.  And it is well documented.  So, I learned some about glaciers. It is about 25 kms away from Jasper on a paved road off Highway 93A.
The Cavell Glacier from a ridge of rock left by the receding glacier.  Another gray day in the mountains.
Looking down at Cavell Lake from the rocky ridge deposited on the west side of the glacier.  The access road is to the right (east) of the lake.  The parking lot is at this end of the road. Access to the Tonquin Valley trailhead is just north of the lake.
Angel Glacier also feeds the melt water at the base of Mt. Edith Cavell. It is high, to the right of centre in this picture, below the peak of Cavell.
The Angel Glacier again (top of photo) and with the ridge I'm walking along in the foreground. Chunks of Angel Glacier were breaking off and cascading down the mountain toward the melt water. It is quite impressive.
