LMD Dilemma
Written by: F. Richard Tifft

Scenario Name: LMD Dilemma
# of Players: 2 or More

The Entities responsible for the Infinity Challenge have drawn in more then just organic super-beings from across space-time. They have managed to capture a series of highly advanced LMDs (Life-Model Decoys) from a SHIELD lab and have set them loose, running with a form of semi-independence. Although the Entities have also brought forth the means to control these powerful doppelgangers. Upon discovering this several groups of super-powered individuals have desended upon them and are now vying for control of these super-replicas.

This Scenario can be played on any map. Players should construct 400 point Forces (although 300 will work as well). Players should place thier Forces, and Objects as per the Standard Rules (pg. 6-7). With this done the Players will now gather the LMDs. The number of LMDs are dependent on the number of Players. With 2 or 3 Players there will be 3 LMDs. In games with more then 3 Players there will be 1 LMD per Player (ie. 4 Players = 4 LMDs, 5 Players = 5 LMDs, etc.). Each Player selects any Figure that has at least the same Point Value as the highest Valued Character in thier Force, but is less then twice the total Value of that Character (ie. a Player has a 68 point Cyclops as thier highest Valued Character, the Figure they pick for an LMD must be worth at least 68 points but less then 136 points. 68 X 2 = 136.), as an LMD. If playing a 2 Player game, First Player will pick 2 Figures, and the second Player will only pick 1. Aside from picking out LMD Figures, Players will need to make corresponding LMD Control-Units (LMD-CU) for each one (any properly marked Token will do). These LMD-CUs allow various Characters to control the corresponding LMD. The LMDs are then placed on the map by the Player that chose them. The LMD-CUs are then placed on the map in the same way as standard Objects (pg. 6-7). Although LMDs must be at least 4 squares away from any Player's Characters, and the LMD-CUs must be at least 6 squares away from any Player's Characters. As well any LMD-CUs must be at least 2 squares away from any LMD. This Scenario uses all the Standard Rules of play (pg. 8-22). With the following additional rules concerning the LMDs (and the LMD-CUs):

1) Any Character can pick-up any LMD-CU, but they must end thier Action upon picking it up. Characters cannot carry other Objects while holding a LMD-CU. Once a Character has a peticular LMD-CU that LMD is considered Controlled, otherwise it is considered Uncontrolled.

2) Using an LMD-CU allows the Player to control the corresponding LMD, using it as though it was a member of thier Force (LMDs do not have to be in Line Of Sight of the controlling Character). The Character using the LMD-CU must use a Move Action to do this (Even if the LMD is making an attack). Although Characters can opt to perform another Action and leave the LMD as they are (Note: Even if the Player does nothing with the LMD it is still considered Controlled).

3) LMDs never gain Action Tokens themselves, (so they are never Pushed) therefore Powers like Incapacitate are worthless against them. Only the Characters controlling them gain Action Tokens (although things like Incapacitate, Mind Control, etc. cannot be used on an LMD to affect the controlling Character. It would have to be used on the controlling Character themselves.).

4) A Character will drop thier LMD-CU if they are successfully hit for damage. Also Characters may opt to drop a LMD-CU if they wish without needing to take any Actions. Dropping a LMD-CU (either voluntarily or not) renders the LMD Uncontrolled.

5) LMD-CUs can be destroyed like any Object (hitting it for 3 or more points of damage). If a LMD-CU is destroyed the corresponding LMD will immediatly move double its Movement (ie. LMD has 6 Move, for this Action it will have a 12 Move) directly toward the Character that destroyed its LMD-CU (even if currently engaged against another Character). If the LMD must pass by another Character (or leave a current egagement) it does not have to make a Breakaway Roll to continue moving (it is intent on reaching the perpetrator and will not be stopped).

6) Uncontrolled LMDs will remain immobile unless a Character (non-LMD) ends thier Action within 3 squares of them (or is forced into that same area via Knockback, Telekenesis, etc.). The LMD(s) will then move immediatly to be adjacent to the Character. At the end of that Player's Turn Uncontrolled LMDs will then attack any of thier Characters (called the "target Character") that they are adjacent to (Uncontrolled LMD attacks are rolled for by the next Player). An LMD will continue to attack the target Character (non-LMD) that they are next to, after the end of each of the target Player's Turns. If the target Character is KO'd (either by the LMD or another Character) the LMD will remain where it is until it is once again the end of that Player's Turn, the LMD will then target and move toward any (non-LMD) Character within its 3 square range (if there are more then 1 Characters within its range, the LMD will attack the Character with the lowest Point Value), the LMD will then make its attacks at the end of the new target Player's Turn. Note: Moving away from an LMD requires a Breakaway Roll.

7) Uncontrolled LMDs will not pursue Characters that Breakaway from them and move outside of thier 3 square range. If the Character stops within 3 squares of any LMD after breaking away (the same LMD or a new one), they are subject to attack again (as per #6).

8) If an Uncontrolled LMD is attacked it will immediatly move toward the Character that attacked it (using its normal Move rate), again ignoring other Characters and not requiring a Breakaway Roll as above. (Note: If LMD is engaged with another enemy, that is in BtB contact with a non-friendly Figure, the attack must be successful in order for the LMD to Move toward the new attacker. If the LMD is not engaged then the attack can be either successful or not, and it will attract its attention.)

9) Uncontrolled LMDs will only use there standard Hand-to-Hand attack, no super powers are used.

10) Controlled LMDs can travel freely around Uncontrolled LMDs, unless the Controlled LMD attacks (successfully or not) an Uncontrolled LMD. Then the Controlled LMD is treated as if it were a standard non-LMD Character (see #6 and #7). They will continue to behave like this until the Controlled LMD is destroyed or until the Controlling Character drops (voluntarily or not) the LMD-CU.

11) LMDs cannot be Mind Controlled.

*Victory Conditions* This Scenario ends when all of the LMDs have been destroyed, or when one of the Player's Forces have been completly wiped out. Optionally Players can use a 1 or 2 hour Time Limit if they wish. LMDs are not worth any Victory Points, only other Player's Characters. If all the LMDs are destroyed (or the Time Limit runs out) and no one has scored any Points, play continues until a Player KO's one of the other Player's Characters. Player with the highest score wins.
