St. Michael's Singers
The St. Michael's Singers came into being on the demise of the R S C M Nicholson Singers. This adult choir, directed by Michael Fleming, formerly Warden at Addington Palace Croydon, had, for twenty years, met on occasional Saturdays or Bank holidays to sing Choral Evensong at an English cathedral in the absence of the cathedral choir. Sponsored by the Royal School of Church Music, the aim of the R S C M Nicholson Singers was to provide a means of strengthening parish musical life by providing opportunities for adult parish musicians to participate in music making to a high standard and with resources perhaps not available in their home churches.
The R S C M Nicholson Singers also participated in promoting new music published by the Royal School of Church Music.
Following changes in publication policy, a major review of its aims and objectives for the 21st century and its move from Addington Palace to its new home at Cleveland Lodge, the Royal School of Church Music decided that it could no longer sponsor the R S C M  Nicholson Singers.
This decision, coinciding as it did with increasing demands on Michael Fleming in his role as Director of Music at St. Michael and All Angels with St. James, Croydon resulted in the winding up of the R S C M Nicholson Singers and the formation of the St. Michael's Singers in January 2001.
The St. Michael's Singers meet  less frequently than did the R S C M Nicholson Singers and now meets twice a year to rehearse and perform a concert in St. Michael and all Angels Church Croydon.
