Alberta Politician Marilyn Burns
A Brighter Future, A Better Way
Edmonton born politician Marilyn Burns has been described by a client as "velvet over steel" and by a Calgary Sun columnist as a "bundle of verve and veracity". Calgary Herald columnist/PC cheerleader Tom Olsen described Marilyn Burns as "a sincere, committed-to-the-cause woman; a single mom who waited until her four kids were older before studying to become a lawyer."

Ms. Burns is an experienced injury lawyer and human rights advocate. Before earning her law degree at the University of Calgary, Marilyn worked on farms, waitressed, taught piano lessons, was employed as a deli-clerk, a high school secretary, a nurse's aide in both a nursing home and a training school for severely mentally and physically handicapped children, and has been a summer camp instructor for children and youth. Marilyn's political activism has included serving as Alberta Alliance justice critic, finishing second in the 2005 Alliance leadership race, attempting a takeover of the moribund Alberta Party, and helping found the Wildrose Party in 2007 (which merged with the Alliance early in 2008).
