Finally, an update to my webpage! I'm delighted to announce that Gerry and I have been happily married since March 23. The wedding was simply beautiful... I could not have asked for a more perfect day! We spent our honeymoon in Williamsburg, VA at the Magnolia Manor B&B. While we were there, we received word that Gerry's job with the Department of Defense would finally start in May! As of next week, he will be an Imagery Analyst with the National Image and Mapping Agency in Bethesda, MD. As for me, I was awarded a full fellowship plus stipend to American University for the two year Master's in Literature program. It's the only fellowship offered by the department so I'm incredibly honored! I'll be starting grad school in the fall here in DC. Within three weeks of our wedding day, we had found an apartment in the metro area and now we're finally getting settled into our very own place! Everything's been just wonderful. Gerry and I couldn't be happier!

Lots of stuff going on in my little world! I hope you all had a lovely holiday season. I had a great time going back to Philly and spending quality time with my family before getting back to Miami and Gerry in time for New Year's. That same week, I successfully took the GRE and submitted my graduate school applications. Whew! That was a big step in our master plan.

Last week we spend 5 great days in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with the awesome roommates of Apt. Q7 and my other MBPsi brothers. Gerry and I had so much fun bopping around campus, celebrating Aly's 21st birthday, catching up with our friends, and planning all the wedding details! We got so much accomplished in those few short days, it's unbelievable. Check out the wedding page for the full update. Just a little more than 2 months to go before I'll officially be a Mrs. Now there's a thought!

It's finally time for an update! I just got back from a wonderful holiday weekend with Gerry's family in St. Petersburg, FL and it's finally beginning to feel like Christmas. Gerry is working hard as a substitute teacher at his old high school, and I'm getting my grad school applications together. I'll be applying to the Master's Programs in English Literature at Georgetown, American, and the University of Maryland for the Fall 2002 semester. We're still planning on heading up to DC as soon as we find a place to live and gainful employment in the metro area.

In wedding news, the Big Day is fast approaching, and we couldn't be more thrilled! We finally made a semi-final guest list, ordered our invitations and chose our favors, so now the really detailed planning can begin. Head over to the Wedding Page to see a sample invitation! You'll hopefully hear more from me in the coming weeks, but until then, have a joyous holiday season with your loved ones and a very happy new year.

I've been here in Miami since September 4th, one week before the horrific terrorist attacks on our nation in NYC and DC. I watched the entire thing unfold on live television with Gerry and his mom... what an incredibly frightening and eerie sight it was to see the twin towers shiver and fall from the sky. I am incredibly blessed in that all my family and friends in the affected areas are unharmed, but as the days go by I find that I'm grieving for the families who weren't so lucky.

Nothing in my life seems quite as important after last Tuesday, but there is a chance that Gerry will be called to work with NIMA much sooner than expected. Until then, I am studying to take the GRE, researching graduate school programs in DC, and continuing to work on our wedding plans. There are only six months left to go before we're married!

Life really does go on... but we will never forget the events that changed our nation on September 11, 2001. My thoughts and prayers are with all the victims of that day.
