Notes for Thomas Goldsmith Richardson II

Veteran of the Civil War, enlisting on June 22, 1861, at Edgeton, Wisconsin.  He was a private in the infantry of Company E, 5th Regiment, and he suffered a "slight leg wound" at the battle of Williamsburg, Virginia on May 5, 1862.  He was discharged on July 18, 1862 and carried a bullet in his knee until his death.

He was the first of the two brothers to migrate to Iowa, where he farmed between Fredericksburg and Lawler, later moving to the edge of Fredericksburg.
